Show Lakeside Review, June 24, 1981, Page for District Si Fum District 30 58, of the Utah Youth Soccer Association (UYSA) closed out its spring soccer season with a barbecue, held Monday night at the West1 Point City Park. Over 900 players, coaches, and family hot members were on hand to eat a thousand-or-s- o dogs, with all the trimmings. A game was played between the coaches and assistant coaches, and the kids officiated the game and coached from the side lines. For the young players, it was a chance to order the adults around for a change. For the grown-up- s it was a chance to hassle their young coaches, and argue every call of the referee. And a good time was had by all. No one really knew who won the game, but that didnt matter. Following the game, the group turned its attention and then they passed out the awards. Trophies were presented to the ten teams which played in the district, mini, double- - elimination, tournament. on food, In the winners circle were the Doxey Elementary four and five year olds, who took first place, The Freemont Elementary Falcons, who took second, the Clinton Elementary Cougars who took third place, and the West Point Lions, who took fourth. In the six and seven year old division, the Sunset Elementary Roadrunners finished first, The Clinton Hawks took second, The Fremont Giants, third and the Doxey Dashers came in fourth. The Fremont Eagles were tops in the eight and nine year old division, followed by the Holt Stingrays. West Point City Park was literally teeming with young boys and girls, proudly wearing their blue and white U. Y.S. A. uniforms. Summer is barely over and ,faU already plans are being processed registration early in August. The Royals had 2 runs on 3 hits, while leaving 10 men on base. Weber II had 1 run on 2 hits and left 5 men on base. Both teams committed three 2-- 1, errors. Hitting for Roy were Mike Kempinger, Joe Facer ' and Nate Gallegos. Roy 9 Davis 7' nc'f'yr In a game played Thursday, Roy came alive, with nine big hits, while the Darts had only two, but the game was marred by four big Royal errors, and that kept the score close. Eric Gallegos tripled, and went 2 for 4 in the game, Jeff Jorgenson doubled twice in three times at bat, Jeff Busby rapped a home run, and Ray Workman, Jeff Yoshimura, Jeff Porter and Mike Kempinger Coach Larry Jorgenson cited each singled. sophomore Jeff Jorgenson and junior Mike Kempinger for leading his team in hitting with .313 and .263 respectively.
