THOMPSON Help Needy Most AmeriLAYTON cans want to help feed starving people overseas, but dont know how, according to Rev. Frank McAuley. The average person feels overwhelmed by the size of a problem like global famine. Yet, we have found that when we show people they can do something about it, they respond to the challenge. McAuley, pastor of the Lay-to- n Community Church in Lay-towas speaking prior to an n, Four LBS Feiiffotful f Serve Missions Four young men from the Lakeside area have been called to serve missions for the LDS Church and will speak this Sunday in their home wards. Elder Kris Cottrell, son of Don and Ann Cottrell, 438 N. 700 E., Kaysville, has accepted a call to serve in the Scotland Edinburgh LDS Mission. He will speak Feb. 27 in the Kaysville 4th LDS Ward, 875 E. 200 N., at 2:45 p.m. He will enter the Mission Training Center on March 17. Elder Cottrell is a graduate of Davis High School and LDS Seminary. He played basketball and baseball for Davis. He has served as first assistant to the bishop in his priest hood quorum. He is a recipient of the Duty to God Award. He has attended the College of Eastern Utah and is employed at the Utah Department of Transportation. An open house will be held with family and friends invited to attend following the meeting at the family home. Elder Alan Clark Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Brent Thompson of 5494 S. 3450 W., Roy, has been called to serve in the Iowa Des Moines LDS Mission. He will speak in the Roy 20th LDS Ward, 5180 S. 3100 W., Roy, this Sunday at 10:50 a.m. He will enter the Mission Training Center on March 3. Elder Thompson graduated from Roy High SChool and LDS Seminary. He is an Eagle Scout and has been employed by Timberline Cabinets in Roy. Family and friends are invited to visit with Elder Thompson at his home following the church service. Elder Jeff Scott has accepted a call to serve in the Texas Houston LDS Mission. A son of Dennis and Juliene Scott of 18 W. 900 N., Bountiful, he graduated from Viewmont High r semiSchool and is a four-yea- nary graduate. Elder Scott is an Eagle Scout and a Duty to God Award recipient. He is an Elder in the Bountiful 5th LDS Ward. He will enter the Mission Training Center on March 3. Elder Scott will speak this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the Bountiful 12th, 22nd Ward, 1475 N. 300 W. An open house will be held that evening in his honor from 6 until 9 at his home. ' Elder Todd L. Alford, son of Robert L. Alford, 74 E. 300 S., Centerville, and Vernetta Fuller, North Glenn, Colo, has accepted a call to serve in the California Oakland LDS Mission. He will speak Feb. 27 at 2:45 p.m. at the Centerville 1st LDS Ward. He will enter the Mission Training Center on March 3. Elder Alford is a graduate of Viewmont High SChool and LDS Seminary. Area Men ftefurn From Church Missions LDS Missions have been completed by three Lakeside area young men who will report on their mission experiences this Sunday in their home wards. Elder Don R. Clark will return home Feb. 25 from serving in the England Leeds LDS Mission. He will speak Sunday, Feb. 27, at 9 a.m. in the Farmington 11th LDS Ward, 700 S. 200 E., Farmington. Elder Clark is a son of Carlos R. and Audrey Clark of 252 Spencer Circle, Farmington. Elder Mark L. Hess will arrive home Feb. 24 after com- pleting a mission in England and Wales, in the England Bris-toLDS Mission. He is a son of n DON R. CLARK Kenneth and Lona Hess of Centerville. He will report his mission experiences in sacrament meeting on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 1:30 p.m. in the Centerville 2nd LDS Ward, 210 E. 1825 N., Centerville. Elder William Blake Hawkes, son of Howard and Colleen1 Hawkes of Kaysville, recently returned from the South Dakota Rapid City LDS Mission.
