Show J AUGUST 3, 1983 Kaysville Joe Amano Rites Held Rites Set For Alene Jones Utah Academy of Family Practice and served as president and secretary for many years. He had been board certified in Famils Practice since 1975, and was a Diplomate of the Board. HE WAS a member of the University of Utah Presidents Club and the American College of Emergency Physicians. He was paramedic advisor for the State of Utah and helped establish and instructed at the Medex Program at the University of Utah. He served as the first president of the medical staff at the McKay-De- e Hospital in 1969. He was a member of the with her husband at The Cterry Hills Campground in Davis County where they met with travelers from across the na- tion. She was an active and avid genealogy worker, traveling to England and the Isle of Man to do specific research. She served as a volunteer worker at the LDS Genealogical Society in the Special Sections. She was active in organizing two family organizations, the Hans Jorgen Hansen Family Organization and the Samuel Wood Family Organization. Under her encouragement and leadership, two major historical books of the families were published. ALENE WOOD HANSEN JONES Alene Wood Hansen Jones, wife of DeVaughn B. Jones, died at the age of 67 on July 3 , 1983 at p.m. at the Jones summer home at Bear Lake. She died of a heart attack. 1 1 ALENE Jones was prominent in civic, church and community affairs in Davis County and in Utah. Alene Jones was born in. Monticello, San Juan County, Utah on April 25, 1916, the first child of Henry Lloyd Hansen and Catherine Josephine Wood Hansen. From her parents, Alene gained a interest in serving others and participating in church and educational areas. life-lon- g ALENE was married to B. Jones on Oct. 14, 1935 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Jones survives his wife. Alene and DeVaughn were the parents of three children, all of whom survive: Mrs. Frank L. (Catherine) Pritch- ett, Salt Lake City; David Lloyd Jones, Filer, Ida.; Fred-ri- c Hansen Jones, Bountiful. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Matthew and Peter Jones, Lisa Pritchett, Lee Ann Durfee and Tom Pritchett, Brandon, Jamison and Jessica Jones and two greatg- randchildren. SHE IS also survived by three sisters, Mrs. F. Bain (Frances) Hoopes, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Preston (Helen) Clark, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Mrs. Joseph K.. (Kathern) Marks, Anaheim, Calif. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Alene was a lifelong, de voted and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. She currently was serving as an ordinance worker with her husband at the LDS Ogden Temple. The Jones served in that capacity for two days a week for the past three years. SHE ALSO was serving as the spiritual living teacher at the Farmington 5th Ward. She previously served in many church capacities, including MIA president. Relief S ciety counselor, Davis Stake MIA board member, Davis Stake Sunday School board member, Sunday School teacher. She served two shortterm summer stake missions MRS. JONES served 13 years as the Director of School Food Services for the Davis County School District. She previously taught home economics at Monticello High School and Bountiful Junior High. She retired from the Davis County School District nine years ago. She was a member of the National Education Association, Utah Edu- cation Association, Davis County Education Association, American Home Econo- mics Association. She was a national speaker at several major nutrition conferences, and at one such conference in Nebraska, was presented a Lifetime Honorary State Citizenship by the Governor. She was active in the Utah School Food Service Association, serving in many capacities, including president, legislative chairman and nutrition chairman. WHILE Director of Food Services, she received national attention by visiting a cattle-rancy and h, single-handedl- buying an entire herd of cattle in order to save money for the school lunch program. She also served on the Utah State Restaurant Association Board of Directors. ning Commission. Mrs. Jones received her early education in Monticello, San Juan County. Upon completion of high school, she attended BYU and Utah State University where she was graduated with a bachelors degree in home economics and secondary education. She did post graduate work at Merrill-PalmInstitute of Child Development in Detroit, Mich., at Long Beach State College and Utah State University. FUNERAL services will be held on Thursday, Aug., 4, at noon at the Farmington 5th Ward Rock Chapel, Farming-ton- . Friends may call Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 8 p.m9 at the Lindquist Mortuary in Kaysville and at the Farming-to- n 5th Ward at 11 a.m., one hour prior to the services on Thursday. Interment will be in the Farmington City Cemetery, Farmington. William Gail Toone, 44, of Golden, Colo., formerly of Kaysville, died Tuesday, July 26, 1983 at the home of Mr. and JOE AMANO, M.D. Dr. Joe Amano, 57, of 110 N. Terrace Drive, Clearfield, died Friday, July 29, 1983 at the McKay-De- e Hospital of a heart attack. HE WAS bom June 27, 1926 in Helper, Utah, a son of Kay and Masa Horiuchi Amano. He married Norma Hama-tak- e Dec. 16, 1951 in Salt Lake City. president of the Elders Quorum, and served in the bishopric while living in Colorado. School in 1955, serving his internship at Minneapolis General Hospital in Ogden. HE BEGAN his practice at the Clearfield Clinic in 1957 where he joined Dr. Ralph Peterson and has specialized in family practice. He was a member of the Davis County Medical Society, serving as its president in 1978, he was a trustee and served in other offices. HE WAS employed with Brewers as an executive officer the past 14 years. Brown, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brown of Syracuse, was given the Military Order of World Wars Award during recent ceremonies at Weber State College. THE AWARD is given annually by the MOWW for Utah State and American Medical Associations, the Ogden Surgical Society, serving as secretary and treasurer. He was a member of the Utah American Academy of General Practice and served as president in 1969 and 1970. TOONE was bom Feb. 21, 1939 in Ogden, a son of Cecil and Verna Willey Toone served an LDS mission to the Hawaiian Islands. He attended Utah State University in Logan for two years. He was married to Kathy Roberts, in 1965, in the Logan LDS Temple. They were later divorced. brother and two sisters, Yosh Amano, Helper; Mrs. Harold (Helen) Matsuda, Helper; and Mrs. Utao (Bessie) Waki, Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon at the Lindquists Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 S. State, with Rev. HE WAS reared in Helper and had lived in Clearfield for the past 26 years. He graduated from Carbon High School, and attended the University of Utah where he graduated with high honors in 1952 with a bachelor of science degree. He served for three years in the Army in Japan during World War II, as a chief warrant officer.
