Cut margarine in to form a crumble mixture. Add coarsely cut nuts. Sprinkle on top of apple slices. Bake in hot oven 400 degrees for 35 minutes. Serves 12. BASIC MULTI-PURPOS- cup mix tbsp sugar 1 egg beaten 2 tbsp water Vi tsp vanilla 1 2 9 flour E cups sifted all purpose 13 cup double acting baking powder 1 cup plus 2 tbsp. nonfat powdered milk 4 tsp salt Serve warm with ice lVi APPLE COFFEE CAKE 3 cups Biscuit mix Vi cup sugar Vi tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon Vi cup milk 2 eggs, beaten 3 tbsp oil 1 quart apple slices Sr. Citizens ening Youre STIR BAKING powder, dry milk and salt into the sifted flour. Sift all dry ingredients together until well mixed. Cut shortening into flour mixture until all particles of fat are thoroughly coated and mixture resembles coarse commeal. Some of the trees in the park were originally planted as a memorial to those Layton men who died serving their country in World War 1. Julian Martinez will head the beautification group. The March of Dimes Mother March marks its 31st anniversary in 1982. This January, as they have in the past, tens of thousands of volunteers will be asking friends and neighbors to come to the air of our nations children. LIONS CLUB president, Carlos Alemea, will work to erect a Layton City sign on the intersection of Lancer Lane and Gentile Street. All civic clubs will be invited to display their logos on the sign. There will be room to announce forthcoming Layton events. Add sliced apples and dot with margarine TOPPING ' cup molasses 1 cup shortening VA cup sugar 2 cups raisins 4 cups flour 3 tsp. soda V tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. allspice CREAM SUGAR and shortening together. In a separate bowl put the molasses and soda, stirring together. Add Vi Vi MELT BUTTER in a 2 qt. baking dish. Combine sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and milk to make a batter. Pour on melted butter in baking dish. Do not stir into batter. Drain apples and place on batter. Do not stir. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. Serves 6-- 2'A cups apple sauce 6 2 greased 9x12 inch baking pan. Cover with apple slices and sprinkle with topping.
