Mike volunteered to refurbish soiled and broken toys donated last Christmas to the Community Action Agency's Sponsors for Santa program. MANY OF these were don- ated too late for use last year, and so in March Mike volunteered to prepare them for use as gifts to needy children this year. He learned of the toys through his mother, Joann, who had helped the agency during the Christmas season of the "Sponsors for Santa'' program and suggested he might repair the toys as a scout project to- wards completing requirements for his Eagle. Together, Mike, his mother, and a 17 year old brother, Ryan, loaded the family station wagon with the toys, took them home and began the task of sorting, repairing, cleaning, and discarding where necessary. the dolls while hi-- mother cleaned them. The boys cleaned other toy s and repaired broken ones getting parts from those severly damaged, when necessary. Those repairable by skilled workers only were given to a second hand charity store - IT W AS a good Eagle project." Mike explained, "because it had purpose, fulfilling Ihe needs of families at Christmas." Mike completed the project in June and the toys are awaiting delivery to Davis County children Dec. 25. This year it falls on Friday and those lucky enough to have Christmas Eve as a holiday will enjoy an especially nice weekend. In this situation, we arc missing the real spirit, opportunity and fun of the year's major holiday. TOO MANY Americans especially housewives are so a r fine condition that could be donated to Community Action for delivery to needy families. It would extend their use and make children very happy who might otherwise do without." emphasized Mr. Jacobsen Roselyn Dechart of the CAA says that not only would donations of food and toys be appreciated, but the agency can still use people who could donate time during the final weeks before Christmas. So you can see that in most cases the problem is body mechanics, not chemical as previously believed. For example, if your elbow came out of joint, the pain w ould be severe, and the best treatment would be to put it back in place. Well, headache pain is usually the result when the vertebrae in the neck slip slightly out of place. In both cases, nerves carry messages of alarm that tell you the condition needs to be corrected quickly.
