The former Layton resident donated new concrete and reinforced the walls at the city swimming pool, although City Recreation Director Sam Dato. left, was writing out a city check for $500 when he was informed there would be no charge. Mr. Parrish, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Parrish, owns. Wasatch Pools in Clinton and said he believes swimming is "probably the best exercise youngsters have available" and added hed like all to be able to take advantage of the activity. Recreation Department REGISTRATION for all recreation activities will begin the week of June I. People should choose the activities they are most interested in and the area that is most convenient for them. Registration date for all activities beginning on Monday will be June 1; for Tuesday activities, June 2, etc. Register on the day and time listed. When more than one day is shown on the parks and recreation brochure, register on the first day listed. ALL ACTIVITIES will be on the days listed throughout the summer. A complete listing of all activities, locations, times, ages and costs is available through the Layton City Parks and Recreation office. held BATON AND drill classes will be held at the Armory. The Chapel Street Park will be the site of adult softball, tennis, general recreation and archery. Adult softball started May 18. Tennis will start June with registration at the tennis courts. Adult tennis will be conducted only if enough individuals sign up. Cost will be announced at the time of registration. 1 CRESTVIEW Elementary will have classes in archery and general recreation. East Layton Elementary will also offer these two activities. Archery, general recreation, adult softball, church softball and softball will co-e- d be conducted at Layton Elementary. LAYTON HIGH School will be the location for many recreational programs including arts and crafts, baseball, cheerleading, gymnastics, junior high softball, children tennis and field and track. Cheerleaders will be organized into teams and will perform at the WFFL football games in August. September and October. A PEEWEE meeting for parents and boys will be May 29 at 2 p.m. on the double diamonds west of the football stadium. Plan to attend. Teams will be formed at this time. Classes in archery, arts and crafts, field and track, general recreation and gymnastics will be held at Lincoln School. YAEYIEVA School will have classes in archery, general recreation, children's tennis, little league baseball, gymnastics and softball. Buses will pick youngsters up in front of the pool at 10 a m. Children should have $7 for food and passes. Buses will leave Lagoon at 4 p.m. and arrive at the Layton swimming pool at 4.30 p.m. The Davis County Junior Olympics for field and track will be held at Davis High School on Wednesday .June 24 at 8.30 a.m. All city winners will be notified. LAYTON CITY Recreation will host an archery tourna- ment for Davis County at Layton High School grounds July 16 at 9 a.m. Layton city has five excellent parks with boweries for picmcmg and parties. Call for reservations of these facilities. Reservations will be started each year on Jan. 2. 376-345- 8 LAYTON WILL have registration for football Aug. at 8.30 a.m. in the recreation department of the city hall. The cost will be $20 which includes a $3 physical. Boys must be eights year old to participate. Age cut off date is Aug. 31. Layton has ten football teams. Weight classifications are as follows: 75 lbs . 9(1 lbs.. 105 lbs.. 125 lbs. and U5 lbs The 155 lbs. class fee will be $25. Uniforms and equipment are furnished. All equipment must be turned in within one week of completion ol the program. Five dollars will be refunded when the equipment is turned in. THE LAYTON City swimming pool will open May 28 and remain open Mondav D through Saturday from p.m. to 7 p m.
