He added, We have made great effort to comply with the legislative mandate and have incorporated many revenue generating projects within the State parks. REVENUES come from fees, park fees such as day-us- e camping fees, special sale of annual Fun Tag permits, prochure sales, and concession contracts. use-fee- s, EXAMPLES of such services are: Conversion of the ice skating rink at Utah Lake State Park into a roller skating ? AS RECENTLY as five years ago, snoring was thought to be the result of vibration of the uvula in the back of the mouth. Doctors recently have discovered, however, that snoring is caused by exces- sively relaxed throat muscles. Dr. Michael H. Stevens, assistant professor of surgery and an ear, nose and throat specialist, says these muscles become so relaxed that they fold into breathing passages and vibrate when air passes through. The result is snoring. ALTHOUGH snoring isnt medically debilitating, it can have other negative consequences. Dr. Stevens recalls a man whose wife was ready to divorce him because of his snoring. The patient underwent a tracheotomy which he plugged during the day and left open at night. This type of opening allows the airflow to completely bypass the loose throat muscles. TRACHEOTOMIES I FEEL we would be derelict in our duty if we did not seek to use our facilities to the fullest in our efforts to provide recreation opportunites for public use, said Director Elliott. ft year amounted to just over 1979-8- 0 Mayor of East Layton Mayor of Farmington Mayor of West Bountiful Paid by Mayors for Commissioner Flint, Chairman Richard Wilson charge, he added. collections increasing to Mayor of West Point Mayor of Syracuse VOTE SEPT. 9TH NO. 33 ON BALLOT our power to fulfill this Park more than doubled its totfor 1979-8- 0 over the previous year, the report shows. Researchers are experimenting with the use of electrodes to stimulate and improve muscle tone, but they have yet to find a solution. Overweight persons and heavy sleepers tend to snore more than others, says Dr. Stevens. The heavier you sleep, the more your muscles relax, he said. IF YOURE carrying extra pounds, the added pressure on the muscles tends to make them fold in, Dr. Stevens says. This is particularly true of people with short, fat necks. Losing weight can help to quiet snoring. So can sleeping on the stomach. CHILDREN sometimes snore because of extra large tonsils or adenoids. In these cases, surgery can solve the problem. Snoring is also occasionally caused by small or crooked air passages in the nose. Surgical straightening of the deviated septum can stop snoring in this instance, Dr. Stevens BUT THE two best hopes for people who happen to sleep in the same house as snorers are patience and, when that wears thin, ear plugs, Dr. Stevens concludes.
