The first balloon ascent in the U.S. occurred Jan. 9, 1793 -more than a hundred years earlier, in Philadelphia. He is the author of What Is Your Destination?. ELDER ASHTON was bom in Salt Lake City on May 6, 1915, a son of Marvin O. and Rae J. Ashton. He graduated from the U. of U. in business administration in 1936. While serving in the British he capMission from 1937-3tained a team that won the British National basketball championship and was associate-editor of the Millennial Star. He was married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1940 to Norma Berntson. They have four children. Elder F. Enzio Busche was sustained a member of the 1151 HE WAS bom Sept. 12,1896 in Femn, Utah, a son of William and Hannah Westenskow Henrie. On Oct. 2, 1915 he married Effie Jane Blair in Dnggs, Ida. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. HE WAS bom April 14, 1930 in Dortmund, Germany. He lived in one of the most heavily bombed areas of Germany during World War II. He was drafted into the German Armv at the age of 14 and was an American prisoner at the end of the war. In 1955 he married his childhood sweetheart, Jutta Baum. The gospel was brought to them by missionaries in 1956, and after a period of two years of investigation they were baptized in 1958. They are the parents of four children. HE BEGAN his church service as branch secretary, followed by callings as elders quorum president, branch president, district president and counselor to two mission presidents. At the time of his call as a General Authority, he had served seven years as a regional representative in Germany. His call as a General Authority came when Pres. Kimball was visiting the Berlin Germany Stake following a ; , trip to Poland. : The stake choir, under the direction of Blair J. Adams, with Barbara Speers as accompanist, will sing and Mike Barnes will provide accompaniment for the Saturday 4 p.m. meeting. Moon, Jackpot, Nev.; Verl Moon, Layton; Mrs. Chad (Karla M.) King officiated at the service with Verl Moon offering the family prayer; prelude and postlude music played by Mary Lou Lloyd; invocation by Chad Smith and remarks by Bishop Jerry L. King. Wash.; Mrs. Helen Squire Oroville, Calif.; Mrs. Erma Elder, Seattle, Wash.; and Mrs. Ethelinda Bailie, Provo; Mrs. Meralda Davis, Bountiful. Interment was in the Layton-Kaysvill- Memorial e Park. JacksonHole. Wyo. LDS EVAN W. MOON were Burnham Leonard, Raymon Willey and Don Manning. An organ medley was played by Mary Lou Lloyd and Lloyd and Iris Moon sang That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine. The benediction was by Alvey McCullough. DEDICATION of the grave by Norns Hess. Pallbearers were Glen Moon, Merrill Manning, Bob Moon, Hal Moon, Paul Willey and Stan Moon. Philip Young Succumbs At 7 2 Philip Young, 72, of 137 King, Layton, died April 19, Hos1980 in the McKay-De- e pital in Ogden. He was bom Dec. 4, 1907 in Kaysville, a son of Enoch Marvin and Hannah Victoria Phillips Young. . ON JULY 23, 1927 he married Agnes Lucile Baker in Ogden. The marriage was later Mr. and Mrs. Joe F. Preece attended the production The Miracle Worker by William Gibson at the Little Theater at Weber State College Friday evening. It was the life of Helen Keller. Mr. and Mrs. Varge Thompson have returned home from Arizona after spending the winter months in the sun. Mrs. Merlyn Schofield entertained at a family birthday dinner on April 23 in honor of her husband Kevin. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ray G. Smith, Rupert, Ida., and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schofield and Mrs. Sherman B. Sheffield has received her mission call to daughter Taryn and Pam serve in the Cordova-Argentin- a 10 Mission. She will Shaw. Sheffield received word April 26 that her granddaughter Miss Sherae Sheffield, daughter of Dr. and solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Young retired from HillAFB in 1970 after 30 years of service. He had lived in Ogden for five years and in Layton for 48 years. He was a high priest in the Layton 4th Ward and a home teacher. He was a past member of the Layton Lions Club. SURVIVING are his widow of Layton; five sons and one daughter, Phillip B. Young, Layton; Richard D. Young, Farmington; Gary L. Young, Paul L. Young, Steven J. Young, all of Layton; Mrs. Erik (Colleen) Buckley, Farmington; 18 grandchildren and Kaysville Center in Provo on June 26. Her brother John is serving a mission in Victoria - Australia. Kaysvil-le-Layto- Mrs. Sheffield now has four grandchildren serving on foreign missions. Its now one of each for Mr. and Mrs. Kevin M. Smith of 274 West 250 South, Kaysville. A son arrived on April 3 at the Davis North Medical Center weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz. and will be named Matthew Dean. At home is a sister Collee. Mrs. Smith was the former Debbie Mason of Cheyenne, Wyo. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Hal Mason of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Mrs. Ruth B. Smith of Roy. Welcoming a son into their home are Mr. and Mrs. Craig Webster of 549 South Angel Street, Kaysville. The 7 lb 8 oz lad arrived on April 9 at the Davis North Medical Center . and will be named Dale Craig. Mrs. Webster will be remembered as the former Lisa King of Kaysville. Smuin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smuin of Kaysville has been confined to the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City recovering from injuries suffered April 1 in a truck accident near Evanston, Wyo. Harold is employed in Evanston and was en route to visit his parents when the accident occurred. Moon, First Quorum of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Da- y Saints on Oct. 1, 1977. He was assigned as mission president of the Germany Munich Mission, and presided from January 1978 to March 1980.
