American-a- THE BEST volume about Hitler's life for years was Alan Bullock's A Study In Tyranny but it was written so soon after the war it was of limited thoroughness. In the last few two decades after that years three authors pioneer book have produced books which better tell the story. Joachim Fest's Hitler is the best German account. David Irving's The War Path Poland's " Adolf Hitler is. interestingly the best account of Hiller's early life and the best uthored book. Now comes a small volume entitled "The Meaning Of Hitler" by Sebastian Haffner. who grew up in Germany but lied in the thirties and returned after the war. Haffner's short analysis is a masterpiece. It explains Hitler's true goals and obsessions and dispels myths and misunderstandings about much in Hitler's era. FOR THOSE who wish to forget, and who feel past history is best forgotten, it should be remembered that we live to begun to provide some Wavne Adams is the rehearsal pianist. Olympic Games By PETE FRITCHIE Sports fans appreciate, generally speaking, the fact that American athletes have been training hard, for years, to compete in the 1980 Olympics. Thats why an alternate inter- national games is a must, and should already be in the planning stage. AMERICAN and other athletes should not feel badly about competing in an international games somewhere other than in Moscow. In fact, if 50 or 60 nations attend this which seems likely meet free world athletes will win more medals. And medals ab-o- comparable to traditional Olympic medals should be awarded. Communist countries run their sports program almost as a state enterprise anyhow and, in some ways, free world countries are handicapped as a result, with their amateurs. IT WAS almost a foregone conclusion that Russia would have rather easily won the greatest number of medals and points in Moscow this summer. They have, even outside their own country, in recent Olympics. President Carter is right when he says military aggression against another free country is not merely a matter of politics, to be kept separate from sports. Its a far more se-- 1 rious question. 3IC DOC IaJ Tekon from Mogativos for 3x L.
