THE DARTS have been somewhat up and down this season and lucky for them the ups have been more frequent than the downs. THESE TWO clubs reflect the difference in the league, Sky View features two dominant type players who can fill up the nets while the Falcons return to the team play that they have made famous. Those two guys up north who can play with anyone are Jon McKenna and Eddie Benson, both of whom scored 28 points in their loss to Bonneville. The game will probably come down toahe ability of the Darts to control the Hill kid and then their ability to get the lead and not look at the four corner offense,; HOME FLOOR advantage is usually holding up these days but there are a few exceptions. Davis will be hoping to use the home floor to come up with a win. A Dart win would throw the race up for grabs but if the Box Elder club comes up on top the race will turn into a two team affair with them and Ogden. IS A COUPLE of wins would be great for the Clearfield five, coaching they get. Anytime you count a Clearfield basketball team out you are making a big mistake. IB the best college prospects in the state. He is a fine outside shooter w ho can also go to the hoop with authority. Scott can it all and if he gets untracked the Darts could be in for a long night. Last week Scott led his club to a win over Logan with 17 points. ONE THING the Bees like to do is get a lead and then go to their four corner offense with Hill handling the ball. In the Logan win they did this for most of the second half, they only scored two points in the third period. Davis should get NOW THEY face the task of playing Box Elder this Friday on the Dart home floor. The Bees come into the contest with a perfect 0 league record and a first place tie with Ogden. Vc-- boards, he scored 14 last week. THEN THERES the quickness of Gregg Boarden and the hustling style of Danny Perkins and the dedication of Troy Nye. In the Tuesday battle the Falcons will play host to a young Roy club that is still trying to find their legs. Playing with a couple of sophomores the Royals are a team of the future, these underclassmen though are capable of big games. Roy is still winless in league action but they are capable of beating some folks before the race is over. They have the height over the Falcons but thats nothing new to these Falcons. COACH HANSEN at Clearfield is doing a super job w ith his game plans as the Falcons seemed to be outmanned in most games they play, and hell need a good plan against the taller Bobcats this week. Preseason favorites in these parts were Bonneville and Sky View but both have found the going tougher than expected especially from the two Davis County clubs. What the experts didnt take into consideration was the tradi- OWNERS well to win up at Sky View. the main man under the Fal- ID iHOME a split would be fine. The Falcons w ill be favored in the Roy contest but will have to play The Darts did slow up a bit in their scoring pace but they stayed hot enough to down a stubborn Ben Lomond club and move their league record to the lead then they won't have to sit and watch the four corner approach. Davis features a . ore ban lanced attack than a show although senior Jeff Emery is usually scoring the most. Jeff poured in a game high 24 points last week, Tage Flint 1 cons shared the lead in the region wars and even with the loss to Layton they find themselves in second place which is higher than most thought they would be at this stage of the action. The next two games will be big ones, as the Falcons face Sky View up north on Friday and then return to action on Tuesday when they play host to the Roy team. s WHATEVER HE said to the club must have aroused their attention because last Friday they came out red hot and poured in 22 points before the first period came to an end. That's almost more points than Scott Hill of Box Elder. At 64 and a jumper at that, the Hill boy is considered one of 376-42- 93 IN OGDEN: HARDWARE STORE 2470 WALL PHONE AVE. 627-18- 82 VISA |
