Jack Olsen. The first Layton location for the business was on Gentile Street. At the outbreak of the war it closed its doors, afterwards in a new building on North Main. During these years the company started booming and had three major additions to the original facility. It was during these years Sam Young and Kent Murdock entered the automobile business. ALTHOUGH both followed d formula for the success by marrying the boss daughters, they both had to work their way up the ladder as much as any other employee might have done. After serving with the Air Force, Sam Young entered the business in 1952 as a bookkeeper and went on to office manager, finance and insurance manager, and finally dealer and general operations manager. HE WAS president of the Utah Automobile Dealers Association in 1976. Mr. Youngs strong belief in a good rap- time-honore- port with the public as a most effective sales weapon has lended to the success of the dealership. Kent Murdock has been with Olsen Chevrolet since 1956. (Prior to working for Olsen Chevrolet he was coach to Central Davis and Layton High Schools). From 1962 to 1968 Mr. Murdock was the Used Car Sales Manager after which time his father-in-lapromoted him to General Sales and New Sales Manager. MURDOCK was MR. former president of the Lay-to- n Chamber of Commerce and has served as director for several years.
