Leslie Derbyshire, chairman Davis County Republican Party, and Felshaw King, chairman Davis County Democratic Party. THE TWO were invited to the monthly breakfast meeting of the Layton Chamber of Commerce so that members could become better informed about the candidates in the upcoming election. Both speakers stressed the importance and obligation of becoming involved in the political process. In reference to the debates between the presidential candidates, Mr. Derbyshire commented, Our country needs a continuous debate of political questions. We all have a duty to scrutinize the candidates. MR. KING suggested attending mass meetings as one way to become involved and told the group, We do not fulfill our obligation by merely voting. Mr. Derbyshire urged individuals to vote for the man and indicated a need to try to disregard personalities, good looks, and friendly ways. He made available to Chamber members copies of a booklet which the Republican Party has printed. It has information about party hopefuls and Republican views on the issues. the general public to attend an 19. at the Clearfield Thiokol October on Tuesday, open house Job Corps .The event is in honor of the Clearfield s facility 10th An invitation has been extended to PUBLIC INVITED HE of vocations at this residential operation. ALTHOUGH the area covered by the proposed study is currently under-develope- when subdivisions are planned, the potential noise will become a nuisance, Mr. Moore said. If East Layton becomes a multi-famil- y area, noise near schools will become a problem. Hill Field has plotted the noise levels in the areas surrounding the base on a contour map, but Mr. Moore and Mr. Mabey feel the grant would make it possible to plot the areas in noise districts. They say this way residents could determine the noise nuisance in an area before homes were built. THE GRANT will also include a significant level analysis to survey land use. Attorneys would determine what successful legal techniques would protect the public. Mr. Moore said that currently FHA will not allow loans in some noise areas.
