Show Mamti discusses increased employee compensation by Benton Petersen MANT- I- Manti City council members discussed and tabled two items at their regular meeting held Dec. 16. Mayor Kim Anderson told the council that he would like something more than the animal control ordinance that the council had previously proposed, but indicated that it was a "bigger step" than the city has taken before. This ordinance will last about 10 to 15 years, the mayor stated after handing out the ordinance for final review. After glancing at the proposal, both Walter Fife and Alan Justesen said they wanted time to read it through, so the final passage was tabled. A At Employee compensation Also tabled was approval of an increase in employee compensation. City Administrator William Mickelson, told the council that it seemed almost "laughable" to be discussing something under $6,000 in a multimillion dollar budget, but added that recommendations made for the salary increases ,were not in the budget presented earlier. This time the mayor wanted to look the items over and digest them. Both items will be discussed again Monday, Dec. 22 at 5:15 p.m. Other business The other business. Mayor Anderson reported that the county commissioners expressed concerns they had with the proposed County m Season's Greetings from Fairview City Library Proposal, because of other projects that various communities did not want put on the back burner in order to help the county. "The county wants five million dollars, including grant money and the tax increase they need to get before the end of the year," the mayor explained. "I think theyll have opposition." The mayor also urged the council to "lobby as much as you can" to get the CommuBlock nity Development Grant for the new fire sta- Sanpete county shines Providence sees to it that no man gets happiness out of crime.
