Her husband, Russell, preceded her in death, as did her parents, two brothers, three sisters, and a grandson, Christian Madsen. She is survived by daughter, Margaret (Brent) Hall. Kent, WA; son, Rees (Sandra) Madsen, Munster, IN; daughter, Kathryn (Roderick) Edelman, Alpharetta, GA; son, John (Catherine) Madsen, Sandy; 19 grandchildren and spouand ses; 40 many other relatives and friends. Ruth was born April 15, 1917, in Fairview, to Minnie Ellen Brown and James Henry Sanderson. She often talked of experiences she had as the daughter of the Sanpete County Sheriff, life with three sisters in the same house, and the sorrow at the death of her two older brothers in their youth. She married Russell llyrum Madsen from Mt. Pleasant in the Manti LDS Temple, Dec. 22, 1936. They made a good team throughout their 60 years together. Russell was a civil engineer. They started married life in a log cabin at a construction project near Moon Lake. She went on to provide homes for her growing family in Idaho, Canada, Washington state, and Nevada. Eventually they settled in Sandy for retirement. Each home was a place of safety, peace and order. A gracious hostess and warm hospitality met all who entered. Ruth was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints all her life. She held a number of church callings, including Stake Relief Society president in Bellevue, WA.
