PLEASANT-Servic- es will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Fifth LDS Ward for Julia Roxie Draper Hamilton, 78, who died Jan. 7, 1997, at Gunnison Valley Hospital following a lengthy illness. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Ursenbach Funeral Home. She was born Dec. 7, 1918, in Mt. Pleasant, to Albert Layton and Effie Merinda Ney Draper. She married Lester Latham Hamilton, Sept. 7, 1942, in Salt Lake City. He died July 10, 1974. She was reared in Mt. Pleasant, attended Hambleton Elementary in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from Wasatch Academy. A registered nurse, she graduated from nursing school at St. Marks Hospital in Salt Lake City and practiced with her husband, Dr. Lester, in Spring-fielCO; and at Walsh, CO and Denver, CO following Lesters retirement. She returned to Mt. Pleasant following her husbands death to be near Lesters grave which is in the family plot at Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery. She her enjoyed grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and although she wasnt able to participate in many family activities because of her health she anticipated their visits, espe"little cially by her ones." She devoted her life to nursing, retiring in 1974. Prior to her illness she lived at the Draper Homestead east of Mt. Pleasant where she grew up as a child and had many happy memories. Her last few months were spent at Mayfield Manor. She loved animals, especially horses and dogs. Her little pal. Sparky, was the delight of her life. She is survived by son, Paul Draper Hamilton of Mt. Pleasant; three grandchildren, Matthew Draper Hamilton of Spring City; Paul Draper Hamilton, Jr. and Mrs. Bryant (Marinda) Buttars both of Mt. Pleasant; six sister, Mrs. James E. (Rita) Erickson. Redwood Valley, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers: Lester; six Lloyd, Albert (Bert), Harold, Woodrow, Andy, and Morlm; and Leora three sisters, Oldham; Thaetta Larsen; and Lydia Zerelda Draper who died in infancy. Burial will be in Mt. She was born May 6, 1919, in Spring City, to Bernard Clyde and Evalyn Hansen Christensen. She was educated in Sanpete County schools. She from graduated Excelsior Beauty College and was a beautician for 40 years. She married Lloyd T. Vance on Feb. 3, 1946, in Spring City. She lived in Kanab for 37 years, where she was active in numerous LDS Church and civic organizations. She held many leadership positions in the Kanab Womens Civic Club. She received the state Outstanding Civic Club Woman of the Year Award in 1993. She is survived by her husband, children, Arlou Vance, Bountiful; Thomas Clyde Vance, Woods Cross; one grandchild; a brother, Bernard Carlyle Christensen, Provo. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Udell and Vernal Christensen. Family and friends may call this evening, Jan. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 9, from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at Ursenbach Funeral Home, 96 North 100 West prior to services. He was born June 25, 1927, in Mt. Pleasant, to Evan and Julia Olsen. He married Darlene Larsen, June 23, 1948, in Manti. He served in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Olsens Chevron Service for 38 years. He was a member of the LDS Church; VFW Post 9276; Mt. Pleasant City Fire Chief for 20 years and served one term on the city council. He is survived by his wife, daughters; Linda West O. Anderson, Valley City; Sheryl O. Cloward, Mt.
