The music is by California composer, Eric Ruskin and choreography by Susan McLain, former member and principal dancer with the Martha Graham Company. "Watermark" by choreographer Ford Evans, one of four commissions Utahs honoring centennial celebration of statehood, will also be portrayed. The piece explores the impact of water on the terrain, the inhabitants, seasonal cycles and ecosystems which rely upon water as a source of life. Two pieces will be performed for pure entertainment, "Dance With Two Army Blankets, choreographed by Danny Shapiro and Joanie Smith; and "Nine Person Precision Ball Passing," a contemporary classic by Charles Moulton and one of RDTs most requested works. The first work features music by Toby Twining and highlights close coordination as five dancers leap, catapult, catch and soar with the aid of two World War II army blankets. l, The latter, a engages the skill of three tiers of dancers who pass bright yellow balls in intricate and deadly accurate transactions. The finale, "Sky Light, one of Laura Deans most memorable works, incorporates a dervish-lik- e spinning and the repetition of musical and choreographic phrases. The performance is part of RDTs outreach program and Snow convocation Colleges series. dance-like-dril- Salt Lake City artist to display works at art center EPHRAIM An opening reception for Kathy Bassett Paulsen, a Salt Lake City artist, and her work, "Two Steps Beyond Reality," will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, Central Utah Art Center, 86 North Main.
