Show Lady Badgers take CEU, lose to CNCC by Ken Beazer EPHRAIM Two crucial lessons in volleyball were taught in Snow Colleges Activity Center last week as the Lady Badgers split a pair of SWAC games, beating CEU, 15-15-1 and losing to CNCC, 15-5 and The first lesson taught last Thursday night to the large Badger crowd: This is college volleyball and all conference games are not The second lesson taught last Friday night to the young Snow College volleyball team from CNCC: This is college volleyball and all conference games are not In last Thursdays home opener against CEU, the Lady Badgers exploded for a game one before the estimatvictory, 15-ed crowd of over 600 could even identify all the new players on Snow Colleges team. And just when it looked as if the Lady Badgers were going to make quick work of the Lady Eagles and send the fans home early, CEU roared back to win games two and three. Thinking CEU had prevailed, a majority of the fans got up and headed for the doors, much to the delight of the Lady Eagles. Taking the crowds early departure as an insult, the Lady Badgers stormed back to take and then fingame four, 15-ished off the Lady Eagles in Lesson five, game learned. 10-1- 5, 4, The following night, CNCC came to Snow College and found themselves down in games, 0-before they knew what hit, and with the crowd now educated in the length of college volleyball, no one made a move towards the exit. Unfortunately, it was the prowess displayed by the Lady Badgers in the first two games that mysteriously disappeared. The Lady Spartans rebounded to take game three, 3 and then used the momentum to take games four and five for the biggest upset so far this season in the SWAC. Lesson learned. Tawnya Crumb led the offensive, repeatedly giving the opponent fits with 50 kills in only two games. Crumb was followed in kills by Nicole Geddes, who had 34. Snows Becky Snarr ran the offense from her setters position, with 101 assists and some nifty passing. The Lady Badgers overall record now stands at as they prepare for some of the countrys toughest competition this week at the Phoenix Invitation. This tournament is rated one of the best each year and presents Snow College with a great opportunity to work on several key aspects of their game. 4, 9, 15-1- 1, 13-1- 5, 13-1- 5, 12-1- 13-1- 5. best-of-fiv- e, 15-1- e. best-of-fi- break due to fire sprinklers t 2, 15-1- e. 4, 5-- MT. PLEASAN- T- Students at North Sanpete High School got an unexpected long week-en- d after problems with a faulty bolt in the coupling of die sprinkler system. Principal Courtney Syme stated that the schools automatic fire alarm started about 2:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, when water from the sprinkler system started to flow from the 2.5 inch .pressurized pipe into the southwest hallway. The water ran from the main hall down both hallways the length of the school to the new section. When Syme arrived at 4 a.m. about two inches of water was on the floor. The insurance company stated that the carpet in the older section of the school will probably have to be replaced. The new section of carpet will be salvageable. Syme stated that Mrs. Doveys class received the worst of the damage. Risk management will pursue liability to the coupler manufacturer for the damages because of the faulty bolt, according to Syme.
