Mayor Chesley Christensen announced that the Community Impact Board (C1B) put the city on pending status for the citys 10-ye- ar $320,000 grant request for the two bridge repair project. The CIB wont consider the request until the city can develop a transportation plan. The plan must take in account help in developing and maintaining Mt. He said the break comes from Utah taking on the responsibility of monitoring its own waste, and not the federal government doing it as some states have done. Senior Citizen Agreement Councilwoman Brotherson and City Recorder Brunger presented a proposed "Use Agreement" for the senior citizens proposed part of the recreation center. The senior citizens have been concerned that they could, in the future, be expelled after putting thousands of dollars into the building. On the other hand, the city had concerns about the project not being finished. Some council members concern expressed about the senior citizens expressing a desire to build their own building. Brotherson and Brunger were directed by the council to have the city attorney check the agreement and then let the senior citizens recheck the agreement. When everyone is happy with the agreement the council will direct the mayor to sign it. Police department Police Chief Kay Larsen gave the council a 25 1 incident report. He said that the department is currently involved in several serious cases that have demanded a great deal of his officers time and some of the cases involved weapons and major check fraud. The chief also reported that his department is under budget and he is looking into purchasing a new police car. The mayor told the police chief to appoint a member of his department as public relations officer. This officer will handle all discussions of case status and announcements to the general public and the press. The city council passed a motion accepting the recommendation by the planning and zoning commission for lot split on Main Street and 400 East. The mayor expressed concern that the citys growth will create water supply problems in the future and the city should start planning now. He noted that the city currently has enough water for 4000 people and that the city is presently supplying 2,500 people. Other business During the financial report, the mayor announced the treasurer had no checks held up for payment and this was the first time in quite a while. Stephanie Blain was appointed recreation center coordinator. She is a recent graduate in recreation and will be handling programs for the center and the baseball program. The Sanpete County Health Care Foundation told the mayor that they have approval for the Osmond Pioneer Youth production that will take place at the high school June 30, July 2 and 3. This event pushes the annual rodeo out of its normal days. Councilman Simons is working with rodeo sponsors for another night. City Recorder Brunger suggested he consider the nights in June when the 125 cyclists are in town. She said this event is only during the day and there will be a lot of people in town these nights.
