He was born July 26, 1923, in Ephraim, to Daniel "K" and Dora Perry Olsen. He married Deon Tew on July 25, 1946, in the Manti LDS Temple. He graduated from Snow then College, joined the Navy Air Force and received his pilots license during the latter part of World War II. After leaving the service, he graduated from Utah State University with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He returned to the farm because of his fathers health and was always willing to try the newest agricultural innovations.
