Karen Thomas, head nurse Wales board OKs new light by Coleen Lamb Installation of a WALES new street light was approved at the Oct. 3 board meeting following a lively discussion. The light, requested both by Coleen Lamb and Kevin Washburn, is to be located near Ms. Lambs home on an existing utility pole. There will be no Utah Power and Light installation charge but the light will increase the citys power bill, $7.62. Ms. Lamb had requested the .light for safety reasons, reporting she had been threatened by two different individuals for being a reporter to The Pyramid. She had contacted UP&L prior to her request to determine what charges would be involved. Councilman Byron Davis opposed the new light saying, "We cant let every new move-i- n nickel and dime us to death." When a retired UP&L Councilman Davis reported that Moroni was paving with enzyme and suggested the council observe the process. He also said that the snow plow was ready, and reported a flooding problem by the Anderson and Raymond employee in attendance offered a suggestion, he was refused input because he was reference. not on the agenda. Ms;. Lamb asked Davis, "if you are so concerned about the towns finances, then why was the road department $8,000 over budget last year?" Davis answered, "It wasnt approved, the county just did it." After a heated discussion, Councilman Lee Lamb made the motion for the new light and the matter was approved with only Davis opposing. In other business Kevin Washburn was invited to report on work at the cemetery. With the aid of a 1907 map and an existing site survey, he had prepared a guide. He reported 430 graves with 12 to 15 unidentifiable. He will continue the work and provide an overlay for identifying plots. All cemetery lot sales or transfers will need to be handled through the city so that accurate records can be cross-referen- maintained. ce Marlin Steadman properties. The council approved a proposal by Alden Robinson of Sunrise Engineering for Wales to join in a feasibility study with Fountain Green and Moroni for the proposed upgrade and expansion of the Moroni Wastewater Treatment Plant. He explained the study was being totally funded by the Environmental Protection Agency and that the town was by no means obligated to participate in the treatment plant service. He stressed, however, that it would be beneficial to have the study on file for future The council also discussed the possibility of a study and the need to evaluate the towns water system. Mayor Tom Davis reported that a well has been approved. Mayor Davis also asked the council to address another matter that the State Auditor had iaccepted the budget but informed him that the budget must be submitted within 30 days in order to comply with state regulations. Councilman Lee Lamb reported that more broken water meters had been found while reading meters, and that some water leaks have not been re- the soil.
