Show uses taxes for private work; contractors report Dear Editor, I would like to commend The Pyramid for the freedom of the press. Your paper lets the people of Sanpete County know what is of interest to them, and the things that are of a benefit to the county; and what is happening around us and to us. Krjsty Jensen, Beautification Committee Chairman, presents award for landscaping to Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Jones. I am a private contractor with heavy dirt equipment and have been talking to some of my colleagues who are in the same business here in the county. Several of us have bought heavy equipment to take the jobs which come up to help the citizens of Sanpete. We operate as cheaply as we can and we employ as many working people as possible and still pay for our equipment. But this is getting to be impossible. In the past Sanpete County Road Department has not interfered with the private contractor. During the last three or four years, they have done several jobs for the private individual and at the present time they have a catapiller on the Skyline Drive for three sheepmen, spending our tax money for private work while our equipment sets idle. I have been informed there are several roads closed in Sanpete County ; two or three in the Gunnison August We feel like all the small business we can get in the county will help everyone. We urge all the cattle and sheepmen in Sanpete County if they have problems getting into their summer range to get the county equipment to open their roads. They have certainly ruined our business.
