Show Four Page Pyramid Recreation Issue May 23, Flea Market planned August 4 1984 City of Progress Mt. Pleasant blends old with new Mt. Pleasant can best be described as City of Progress. Located in the center of the Sanpete Valley, it is also described as Hub City. One would scarcely believe to drive through this serene town that it is the focus of activity and progress. Its tree lined streets, and rural atmosphere sprinkled with old and new architecture, lead one to believe that this sleepy little town remains unchanged over the years. But beneath the historical and peaceful setting, the city is humming. Growth, experienced over the past few years throughout Mt. Pleasant and other North Sanpete cities, has necessitated the building of a new high school and LDS Seminary building. A new middle school has also been built in nearby Moroni and the elementary school enlarged. The Utah National Guard recently completed a new building which is located in the south edge of the community. Progress usually means townspeople working together. Sometimes it means soliciting help from neighboring cities as well, and such is the case of the new Sanpete Valley Hospital being built south of the town. When it was discovered that the present hospital needed major updating and that the cost to build a new hospital was justified, area residents got together to raise $450,000 as a down payment on the facility. A sufficient amount was raised and the ground broken April d 11, 1983 for the new facility. The hospital will be completed this 20-be- summer. More changes are in store for this progressive city. Installation of a pressurized irrigation system which will replace the flood irrigation program is in progress. The city has also begun the construction of a new Fire Station-Cit- y Hall Complex, and has plans for a community recreation center in the heart of the business long-standi- district. community, Mt.
