Show NOVEMBER 4. 1986 L, Kaysville Literary Club meets Falcon Forum The Kaysville Hello again from the halls of Clearfield High School. We ended on a down note last week as our Falcon football team lost to a good We traveled Box Elder team 14-to Brigham City ready to pull of yet another upset, but lady luck was not with us this time. The guys really played hard all season and deserve the biggest hand for their efforts. This is the final fall sport to retire to the record books and although we regret to see them go we look forward to the fast upcoming winter activities. There are many clubs and organizations here at Clearfield, but none does more without the recognition they deserve than the swim team. They recently showed their to pride and held a swim-a-tho- n raise funds for their sport. The team received donations for every minute they could stay in the pool. All of the participants are deserving of commendation, but one member is especially outstanding. Kevin Packam, suffering from diabetes, stayed in the pool for over 90 minutes; quite a performance. The team raised over a SI, 000, and what really counts is the efforts of people such as Kevin. Thanks goes to him and all of those others who participated. Davis Dartboard By SONYA SILL Hello my fellow Darts! Once again its time for the Davis Dartboard. In the world of sports at Davis, the girls volleyball season came to an exciting end as the Lady Darts took the region one title. The football team deserves congratulations as they tied for second place in region. Life at Davis isnt too bad. Not too much homework (if you take basket weaving courses), lots of assemblies, and a pretty good fa- culty. But thank goodness first 10-Ke- 8 hostesses for the evening were Dorothy Marx and Mary Bodily. The book "Down the Long Hills training starts y In conjunction with the Davis County Adult High School a business machines class will be offered on Tuesday evenings for ten weeks starting Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at Davis High School, Kaysville. The class will offer training by the touch method using the most electronic calculators. One-hahigh school credit y lf may be earned as part of the program. The class is offered fiee to the non-higschool graduate over 18 years of age, otherwise there is a nominal $15 fee if you have your diploma. Registration will take place at the first class Tuesday evening, Nov. 4 room 294, Davis High, 7 p.m. The public is welcomed to h attend. by Louise LAmour was reviewed by Adele Clay. The book was recently made into a movie by Disney Productions. It was filmed in Park City area last spring and will be shown on T.V. sometime in December. Adeles 12 year old nephew played the part of understudy and did all the stunt scenes. A granddaughter of another Kaysville resident played the part of the young girl. Minor roles as members of the wagon train were played by and Adeles Two club members received Louis LAmour books as door prizes at the club meeting, jw Students from Clearfield High School were the winners of a recent Future Farmers of America land judging contest sponsored by the Davis County Soil Conservation District. Members of Clearfield Highs winning team were Thadd Layton, 233 points; John Taylor, 212 points; and Ryan Hatch, 204 points. Possible score was 300 points. The second place team was Layton High, consisting of Marci Pyle, 165 points; David Madsen, 160 points; and Shauna Johnson, 151 points. The high team and high individuals from each school will receive awards furnished by the Davis Soil Conservation District. This years land judging contest was held in Kaysville on property operated by Rulon King. Three different sites were evaluated for soil characteristics such as texture, depth, slope and erosion. Helping conduct this year's contest were Shawn Olsen, Utah State University Extension agent; Max Phillips, Soil Conservation Service Conservationist, and Vo-A- g teachers Nile Carlson and Debbie Spielmaker. The Davis County FFA land judging contest is held annually to teach high school students more about soils and soil conservation. High individuals from each school will participate in the state land judging contest at Snow College. Davis teacher honored KAYSVILLE Mrs. Louise Lochhead, Business Education Teacher at Davis High School for the past seven years, has been given the 1986 Utah Business Education Action Award for Outstanding Classroom Curriculum Development in a business subject. Besides doing an outstanding job in the business classroom and acting as advisor to the FBLA, Mrs. Lochhead has developed a computer tutor module for first year accounting students. This has proven highly successful, dmg o o Elementary lunches at the Toga Dance. It really sounds like its going to be fun. Congratulations to Tracy Mar-cuse-n who was crowned 2nd attendant at the Miss Kaysville-Frui- t Heights Pageant last week. I hope everyone had fun on Halloween. Im sure everyone found a great party Halloween night. I hope you are not looking forward to a long article this week, this is going to be short because there isnt much happening this week, and besides, I have too much homework. So anyway, heres this weeks activities. Thursday is the opening night of the school play Arsenic and Old Lace. It should be good, I know the Drama Department has been working hard to make it great. The play will run until the middle of next week. The only other activity this week is Saturday when the debaters go to a Portia Douglas Tournament. Good luck debate team. Now it's time for the thought of the week. Think about this as you start the second term. Some people never learn anything because they know everything too soon.
