Show DAVIS SEPTEMBER REFLEX-JOURNA- 4, 1985 LDS MISSIONARIES wed Ehlen-Ald- er Eugene and Mary Alder of Kays-vill- e. Following the wedding, a buffet brunch was provided by friends and neighbors of the Ehlens at the home of Bonnie Schmitz. THAT EVENING, a reception was held in the Palos Verdes Stake Center. The maid of honor was Nancy Ehlen andbridesmaids were Darith Owsley, Patty Alder and Wendy Merkley. Douglas Alder w;as the best man and Jack Ehlen Jr., Eric Ehlen and Robert Oaks served as ushers. The bride wore the lace gown in which her mother had been mar- ried. The bridesmaids dresses were periwinkle blue and they car- ried peach and cream colored STEVE ALDER Kathleen Marie Ehlen and Steen L. Alder were married in the Los Angeles Temple on Aug. 17. Officiating at the ceremony was Patriarch Merrill Bickmore who also married the brides parents. KATHLEEN is the daughter of Jack and Sharon Ehlen of Torrance, Calif. Steven is the son of flowers. THE BRIDE had been honored at showers given by friends and relatives in Torrance and Kaysville. Kathleen is attending BYU where she is majoring in elementary education. Steven is a Davis High graduate and is also attending BYU majoring in computer aided design. He filled a mission to the Stockholm, Sweden mission. THE COUPLE honeymooned at Catalina Island and Newport Beach, Calif. They will reside in Provo where they plan to complete their educations at BYU. The grooms parents will host a garden reception for them at the Kaysville Rock Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 7 from T--9 p.m. Layton News Notes By DONETA M. GATHERUM 773-497- JANNA STEENBLIK October wedding planned Janna Steenblik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Steenblik of 328 E. 200 S., Farmington, and Jason Bagley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald M. Bagley Jr., of Fruit Heights are planning an Oct. 11 wedding in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. JANNA is a Davis High graduate and attended BYU and six months with the BYU study abroad in Vienna, Austria. Jason graduated from Davis High and filled an LDS England, Bristol mission. He will continue his studies at the University of Utah. BOTH JANNA and Jason have been active in music at Davis and were members of Lagoons Show Band for three years. 6 Mrs. Jaydene Love Taylor and her children Jed, Malinda, James and Sam of Longmont, Colo, spent several days recently visiting with Mrs. Taylors parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Love and with her grandmother, Mrs. Ruth H. Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Love accompanied the Taylor family back to their Colorado home. After a short visit, the Loves returned to Layton. Mrs. Catherine Dickson and Mrs. Ruth H. Adams enjoyed spending an afternoon and evening visiting with their friends, Ruby Muir Layton, in her Bountiful home and Ruth H. Baird who is now living with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baird in Centerville. Brian and Elaine Harris of Car-so- n City, Nev. have been spending many days in Utah assisting Mrs. Mrs. Golden Harris M. Adams, who is recovering from an automobile accident. Mrs. Margo Harris Leatham and her children, Laura, Jeremy and Jessica, have also been visiting in Utah. Mrs. Leatham is Brian and Elaine Harris daughter. The Leatham family stayed with friends and relatives living in Farmington, Ogden step-moth- Gains title Natalie Cornaby has accepted a France Paris Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. She is call to serve in the the daughter of Douglas and Etholene Cornaby of 16 Payne Cir- LAYTON - Jennifer Judkins, the daughter of Merlin and Karen Judkins of 2408 Country Oaks, cle, Layton. -- Layton, was recently selected Miss ZCMI 1985. TO EARN this title, Jennifer first had to submit an application to be on the ZCMI Teen Board. Officials at ZCMI screened the applications and selected 100 girls to serve on the Board. Pictures of the girls were placed in the seven ZCMI stores and people voted for thier favorite. By this process, the number of girls was trimmed to seven, one representing each store. Jennifer represented Layton Hills Mall ZCMI. Finally a group of judges went over the seven applications carefully, looking for special talents and qualifications. A personal interview culminated the contest. AS MISS ZCMI 1985, Jennifer will have many opportunities. She will take part in numerous fashion shows, fashion clinics and special programs. She received a $1,000 prize. She will serve on the ZCMI Teen Fashion Board. Jennifer is a senior at Layton High School. She lists snow skiing as her favorite hobby. When she is not in school, Jennifer works at a store in the Layton Hills Mall. THE EXPERIENCE she will gain as Miss ZCMI should help Jennifer in preparing for a career in fashion design. Jennifer hopes to attend USU after graduating from high school. NATALIE graduated from Layton High School and LDS Seminary in 1982 where she was active in school sports and student government. She is also a graduate of Ricks College and has attended Weber State College. For the past year she has been employed as a secretary for K&C Industries. SHE WILL speak Sunday, Sept. 8 at 12:50 p.m. at the Layton 11th Ward Sacrament meeting, 60 W. Gordon Avenue, Layton. That afternoon between Hie hours of 6 p.m. an open houS will be held at the Cornaby home: 4-- Fnends, relatives and neighbors are invited to attend. Elder Charlton B. Vance, son of Mrs. John M. (Shirley) Park and K. Roland Vance has accepted a mission call for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints to serve in the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission. He will enter the Mission Training Center Sept. Traci Lee Nielson, daughter of Vaughn E. and Marlene Nielson of Kaysville, has been called to serve in the Korea, Seoul Mission. She enters the MTC Sept. 12. TRACI WA$ an honor graduate of Davis High and was a foreign exchange student in Sicily, Italy. She graduated from Clarks School of Travel. She attended Weber State College and Brigham Young University. 12. A FAREWELL will be held in the Layton 4th Ward , 2 20 W. Gentile, Sunday, Sept. 8 at 1:30 p.m. Ward members and friends are invited to an open house at his home, 1015 W. Gentile on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from p.m. Eider Vance is 1984 graduate of Layton High School and LDS Seminary and attended Weber State College. He is an Eagle Scout. 1 7-- 9 HER FAREWELL will be held Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville Tabernacle. Friends are invited to an open house from that evening at 49 7-- S. 300 W. Wagstaff called Elder Ken Wagstaff, son of 10 E. Frank and Nola Wagstaff, 400 N., Kaysville, has been called to serve an LDS Stockholm Sweden mission. 1 1 Receives appointment On Aug. 20, D. Michael Nielsen, attorney at law, was appointed Mental Health Commissioner for Davis County. Mr. Nielsen's duties include the conducting of hearings regarding the hospitalization of mental health patients in Davis County. HE WILL speak at the Kaysville 17th Ward Sunday, Sept. 15 at 3:15 p.m., 2nd North Chapel. Friends and relatives are invited to meet with Ken after the meeting at his home. He enters the MTC Sept. 19. Elder Wagstaff is an Eagle Scout with three palms, an honor graduate of Davis High and graduate of the LDS Seminary. While at Davis he was a member of the National Honor Society and president of the MR. NIELSEN is a native of the Ski Club. Silver age events The Silver Age has a new oil painting instructor, Lucille Stock. She is bringing a lot of excitement and new ideas to the oil painting classes.
