She noted that approximately 13,000 youths in Utah suffer problems of drug and alcohol abuse and less than 250 are in drug rehabilitation programs, because of lack of facilities. MAYBE THE state task force wilKhelp to get these needed facilities, including care, counseling service and long-terrehabilitation, said Mrs. Bangerter. Drugs and alcohol abuse affect all families and the problem is getting increasingly worse. She said some of her long-tergoals would be to help communities obtain prevention and care centers; educate the public of the seriousness of the problem through the schools; provide public awareness programs; attempt to obtain more treatment centers for the acute alcoholic and drug abuser; and have the information available to influence the legislature of the needs for these facilities and services. m after-hospit- e, in-te- SHE EXPRESSED a desire to have drug and alcohol pre-mo- and alcohol abuse problem cost to society. in Utah creates a tremendous NOT ONLY are the abusers unable to work and function properly, they become habitual law breakers, she explained. The appeal was made to the council because the conditional use request was denied by the Planning Commission.
