Important matters of business are also on the agenda. Layton Arts Go Bach LAV TON On Sunday the Layton Arts Council will present a Bach 1 ricentenmal Concert at 8 p.m. in the Oakhills 1410 Chapel, h. Gentile, Lay ton. I his event celebrates the 300th anniversary of the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach, born March 21, 1685. -- - FEATURED on the concert will be artists from Ogden to Salt Lake City, pcrtoiming the works of this great composer. The C hamber I layers, of Weber State College, under the direction of Dr. Michael Palumbo, will perform ;he Brandenburg Concerto No. 5. The combined Layton 5th and 21st Ward Choirs will sing Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. The Toccata and Fugue in D minor will be played by organist Wayne Adams. Melinda Skidmore, 10, will play Gavotte in G on the piano, and Linda Wildman will perform on her own harpsichord. Ava Maria will be played by Ayumu The Kikuhara, on recorder, and Kathy Skidmore, pianist. Jean Simons, soprano, will sing Sheep May Safely Graze. A mixed quartet will do the Bourree for Bach a la Swingle, and local baritone Maik Child will also perform. The concert is under the direction of Dennis Wright and is free to the public. CLASSES will be held on consecutive Tuesdays at 6 p.m. in the conference room .of Layton City Hall (at the rear or the east portion of the building). All sessions last for approximately one d hour. There is no charge for the program. Individuals who plan on attending should contact the Community Development Department at THOSE ATTENDING six sessions will receive a certificate of completion from the University of Utah. The program is seen by city officials as an excellent opportunity to receive basic training in the workings of local government. People involved with the Planning Commission, the Board of Adjustments and city council would find the program beneficial, as well as interested citizens. TOPICS to be discussed include: Zoning and the Zoning Ordinan544-429- 6. Problems ce-Special in Zoning; Subdivision Development and Control; Citizen Participation; the Board of Adjustment; the Cost of Urban Services; the Capital Improvements Plan; Know Your Community Services and The Problem of Energy.
