Craig celebrated his 86th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 9 at a family dinner held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Verl Williams in Layton. Mrs. Williams is Carls daughter. Attending were family members living in the area including Vernon and Sue Williams and their children, Guy, Shannon and Brittiany. Also attending was Kandy Sadler, a granddaughter. Comm imica iton Seminar Planned By Kays . Jaycees The Kaysville Jaycee Chapter will hold a Communication Dynamics seminar on Sept. 26. NEW MEMBERS of the Chapter are Dewey and Chardell Novotny; Bruce and Donna Woodfrod. MR. CRAIG was born Sept. 13, 1898 in the Craig home on Rainbow Drive in Layton. He is the son of Jaycee President Steve Humphreys announced that Tom and Pat Kolmel are winners of the Geta way Rainbow Weekend from it all contest. They signed up two new members. David and Laura Harris Craig. He was the oldest boy in a family of seven children. Mr. Craig has one brother and one sister still living. They are Mr. Shirley Craig of Layton and Mrs. Ira P. (Ruby) Thurgood of Syracuse. When Carl was 3 his father died and Carl assumed the position of caring for the family and operating the farm. 1 bors. It was announced that Clytie Adams has offered storage for the Jaycee materials. The Chapter has been in need of storage space for Jaycee materials. They appreciate Mrs. Adams providing this service. MARK Dunlevy has accepted the position of Director of the Jaycee Board. He will serve as Director of Jaycee Communications. Bruce Woodford will handle communications Dynamics on Sept. 26, np fishing. He worked for the Layton Sugar Company, the Ogden Arsenel and Hill Air Force Base. HE HAS always been active in the LDS Church, holding responsible positions of leadership in many of the Layton wards. He is the father of three girls and one boy, Leota, lone, Beth and Jay D. Leota and lone have both passed away. He has 11 grandchi13 ldren, 4 one room school houses in Layton. He HE ATTENDED traveled to Kaysville to complete his education. On May 12, 1917 he married Inas Smith in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1951. He married Gay Brown Haycock on June of 1954. She died Oct. 6, 1983. MR. AND MRS. JOHN STAHLE, JR. To Be Honored On 60th John Stahle Jr., publisher of Clipper Publishing Company, and his wife, Lucile, will celebrate 60 years of marriage at an open house Friday at Canterbury Hall, 197 E. 500 South, Bountiful. MR. AND MRS. Stahle, along with John Stahle Sr., worked together in the newspaper business since 1924. John Stahle Sr. died in 1954 at which time his son became publisher. John Stahle Jr., now 81, began working with his father at age 16 learning the Lynotype machine and other newspaper backshop equipment. Both are still active in the newspaper business. As publisher, John Stahle Jr. still works every day and Mrs. Stahle carries out her assignments as assistant manager and supervisor of correspondents. She also sold advertising until the late 1970's. IN ADDITION to the newspaper, the Stahles worked together showing movies throughout Davis County for several years, beginning in 1938. Both drove a truck from place to place where movies were, shown in LDS wards. Previously, they owned a stage and movie theatre in Bountiful where Lees Barber Shop and Demontes Clothing Store are located on Main Street. Mr. Stahle is a lover of music and began playing in the old Bountiful band during the 1920s. He still plays the drums and saxophone in the Bountiful Senior Citizens Band. During the many years as a performer he played the clarinet, trumpet and violin besides the drums and saxophone. He also began playing the organ about 10 years ago. BOTH HAVE been active in church and civic affairs. She was president of Stoker Elementary PTA; president of the Bountiful First Ward LDS Relief Society; publicity chairman for Bountiful Chapter of American Cancer Society; charter member of Davis County Seroptimist Club; and captain of the Anne Roberts Dustin chapter of Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Mr. Stahle was clerk of Bountiful Sixth Ward for seven years and High Priest Group secretary for 14 years. They had seven children, six of whom are still living. They also have 35 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren.
