Jon Beckstrand, 22, died when he w as pinned between the back of the seat and the roof of the overturned vehicle. The driver of the car, Jeff Baker, 23, of Fillmore, was hospitalized overnight for observation suffering from shock, scrapes, bruises, and a cut on his arm that required eight stitches to close. The accident happened at approximately 2:10 a.m. Saturday morning, according to UHP Trooper Jim Smith, who was the investigating officer. The Utah Highway Patrol will again provide public speedometer checks for Utah residents. These checks will be provided at various locations, free of charge, to verify the accuracy of automobile speedometers. Two locations for the speedometer checks have been scheduled for Millard County. They are: June 12 and 13 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on the County Road one mile south of Delta near the Department of Transportation Shed. June 19 and 20 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., on Old Highway 91 between Fillmore and Meadow, one mile south of the Jkdushroom Farm. The Festival is held outdoors in the Bicentennial Arts Complex on West Temple Street in downtown Salt Lake City. He said Jack Roberts of Kanosh has been hired as the pool lifeguard, and is highly qualified for the job. Roberts will also be instructing swimming classes this summer. You must sign up by June 21st for the lessons. They will be $6 for 1 2 lessons. Day said the pool will also be available for parties and groups at $25 per to evening. Diamond Studs" is a light, humorous, bluegrass musical based on the life of Jesse James. The musical will be staged in a large tent theatre erected on the Salt Palace grounds. It will open Tuesday, June 22 at 8 p.m. and run Wednesday through Saturday with two performances daily at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. There will be final matinee on Sunday, June 27, at 2 p.m. Like all activities at the Festival, the play will be free to the public.
