Show Barbara Burnside named 1972 'Girl of Fairview woman honored on 80th anniversary The family of Mrs. Arthur (Hannah) Bohne of Fairview honored her at an open house on the occasion of her 80th birthday anniversary, Sunday. Mrs. Bohne was also honored at a smorgasbord-turkedinner attended by 38 family members on Saturday. Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Mar Dye of Spring City. Mrs. Bohne was born on y February Miss Hazel Kay Cheney Hazel Kay Cheney engaged to wed Jay T. Bullock in Provo Temple Mr. and Mrs. Reed E. Cheney, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Hazel Kay, to Jay T. Bullock, son of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Bullock of Provo. The couple will exchange vows April 28 in Provo LDS Temple and will be feted that evening at a reception in Fairview North Ward Cultural Hall. The bride is a graduate of North Sanpete High School and a post graduate of Seminary. She studied music history in Europe with Butler College, was awarded an Honors Scholarship Fairview, Residents return from Spain tour Elden Mr. and Mrs. Westenskow, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Blackham of Moroni, Mrs. Marjorie Pratt, Mt. Pleasant, Mr. and Mrs. John Bigler, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tucker, Fairview, and Mrs. Lurline Rigby, Ogden, former resident of Moroni and Mt. Pleasant, were among the 174 persons who enjoyed a tour of the southern part of Spain last week. The trip was by Moroni Feed Company and the Chehalus Grain Company Fine Arts and studed at George Washington University in Washington D.C. She also attended Snow College where she was active in music and in drama. The prospective bridegroom is graduate of Provo and Seminary. a High School He also from Snow College graduated and is presently a senior at Weber State College where he is majoring in Geodetic Science. Mr. and Mrs. Perry McArthur spent last week in Northern Utah visiting their three daughters and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Foster at Bountiful, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse L. Murray at Farmington and Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Hansen at Fielding. Mr. and Mrs. Chesla S. Patterson, Salt Lake City; Rebecca Petterson and Blanche Seely, students at BYU, visited last Thursday with Mrs. J. Leo Seely. Mr. and Mrs. H. Rex Norman of Salt Lake City were over-nigguests of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Norman Saturday night. 1892 10, at Colonia Dubalan, Mexico to Walter F. and Alazada Anderson Hurst. She attended schools at the Dubalan Seminary and Juarez Stake Academy. She migrated to the United States in July of 1912 when the LDS people were evacuated from the Mormon Colonies in Mexico due to the trouble caused by the Mexican Revolutionary War. After camping one month in El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Bohne came to Utah with her parents and family and settled in Fairview. She married Sylvanus Howell on June 4, 1913 in the Manti Temple. He died in 1939. She married Arthur Bohne on December 30, 1952 in Salt Lake City. Following their marriage she spent two years in Indian Springs, Nevada where Mr. Bohne was employed with the Reynolds Construction Comp-naThe Company at that time was doing work for the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1955 they returned to Fairview to make their home. Mrs. Bohne has seven children and include Mrs. Reola Barney of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Mar (Neva) Dye of Spring City; Mrs. Rex (Zada) Norman of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lloyd (Bertha) Brady of Phoenix; Berthel Howell of Alpine; Dr. Demmont Howell of Ephraim and Kenneth Howell of Manti. She has 33 grandchildren and 55 greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Bohne also 14 has three step-sonstep grandchildren and 13 step greatgrandchildren. She has been an active worker, in the LDS Church and served! two separate terms in the" Fairview North Ward Primary. She also served one winter as president of the YWMIA and three years as president of the North Ward Relief Society. She served as an officer of the North Sanpete DUP for five years and served seven years as an officer in the North Bend Camp of the Mrs. Hannah Bohne . honored at 80 Tamra Madsen will wed Kenneth Madsen Mr. and Mrs. Myron Madsen of Monroe, Utah announce the engagement of their daughter Tamra to Kenneth Madsen, son of Mrs. Helen V. Members of Artopitc Literary Club met at the home of Ina Hughes for their Valentine party with Anna Scovil as hostess. The tables were beautifully decorated with a valentine theme. A delicious dessert was served. Sixteen members and two guests, Glenna Phillips and Donna Osborn were present. The evening was spent playing bridge and canasta, with prizes going to Ruby Ericksen, Glenda Staker, Donna Osborn and Pearl Benson. Ted welcomed second Dase and Nancy a baby girl, their child and second daughter, on February 12. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Burnside and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Dase. the Year' by Jaycettes Miss Barbara Burnside, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John (Burnside of Fairview was chosen the Fairview by Jaycettes as the 1972 Girl of the Year. Miss Burnside will represent the Fairview Club in state competition in Ogden sometime in April. Miss Burnside was selected at the club meeting on Wednesday night and awarded her trophy at the Sweetheart Dinner Saturday evening at Freds Cafe. Club vice president, LeeAnn Hansen presented the trophy to Barbara. Miss Burnside was chosen for this honor because of her high scholastic achievements and her service to her community. She is a girl who likes being involved and hates to waste her time. She is a girl who likes being around people and loves life. She keeps busy as secretary of the German Club, business manager for the NS program bureau, being a member of the high school girls chorus and as a member of the Polished Silver a high school singing group. She also plays the vibra bells in the Nitehawk stage band. She has been a member of the speech and drama teams and has attended invitationals at Snow College, College of Eastern Utah, and College of Southern Utah. She has been a member of the FHA for three years and was a member of the Pep Club last year. She is a member of a special group that meets once a month with the district psychiatrist to discuss problents at the schools. A senior at North Sanpete High School she was consistently on the honor roll at NS Jr. High and has a 3.60 grade average during her last three years in high school. She is a graduate of the LDS Seminary and will in May. become a She has been a member of the Seminary Bowl for three years and is a member of the district team. Melinda MorRae and Brothersen, who are attending Weber State, accompanied them here for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Madsen and Mr. and Mrs. Chris T. Madsen visited in Logan over the weekend. Barbara Burnside . . . wins contest Barbara was chosen as a member of the Governors Committee on Children and Youth. This included spending two days in Salt Lake City attending conferences where they wrote bills which the Governor to the State Legislature. She organized and conducted the Red Cross Drive in Fairview for 1971. She was Club for two president of her years and a member for four years. Active in the LDS Church, Barbara has been Senior Sunday School organist for nearly two years and teaches the 6 and 7 year olds in Jr. Sunday School. She has had leads in stake presentations and road shows and has earned five Individual Achievement Awards. She is a member of the Bishops Youth Council and sings with the Ward choir. Barbara is a talented pianist and also enjoys the organ and guitar. She likes to sing and enjoys reading and collecting and writing poetry. She loves skiing in the winter and tennis in the summer. Her main hobby is trying to become experienced in homemaking skills. She has submitted 4-- Mary Cloward was hostess to members of the Bridge Club on Thursday night. Mrs. Worth (Beth) Story of Cheyenne, Wyoming, is spending three weeks here visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Jacobsen. Sadie Mower entertained last afternoon for Wednesday members of the Afternoon Bridge Club. Mrs. Loretta Kidman and Mrs. Leona Pedersen attended the Gunnison Homecoming, a daylong celebration on Saturday at Gunnison. Mrs. Henry Tuttle was a Salt Lake City Visitor over the weekend, going there to attend the wedding of a nephew.
