Answer: Fint see if you can determine how long the power will be off. Home economists at Whirlpool Corporation, one of the leading of home manufacturers freezers, point out that if your freezer is fully loaded, foods will keep frozen for up to two days if the cabinet is not opened. In a freezer with only half a load or less, food may not stay frozen for more than a day. If power will not come on before the food will start to thaw, use dry ice. About 26 pounds of dry ice put into a freezer soon after a power outage should keep the temperature below freezing for 2 to 3 days in a half-fufreezer, or 3 to 4 days in a full freezer. Do not open the freezer again until the power is restored except to put in more dry ice. ll BE CAREFUL WHEN ICE. ALWAYS DRY DLING WEAR HEAVY GLOVES. He proposes to place a Butler type building for a freight depot. Since this use is in compliance with the zoning ordinance and with, the use intended for this area, Ben Robison motioned that this request be recommended to the County Commission for by approval, seconded Lyman Finltnson and carried unanimously, with the stipulation that Mr. Roberts comply with the subdivision standards. Mr. Roberts agreed he would do this. Steve Young mentioned that an easement runs through this property and that perhaps a road might possibly be built in this area. Jim Cox looked the plot plan over and determined there was no problem. Jim Cox, County Engineer, and Steve were Planner Young, instructed to determine that everything is in compliance concerning the subdivision ordinance. item of The second business was the Jolly Stitchers, introduced by Don Morris, who indicated they had requested a zone change from to agriculture commercial and had been denied twice. Several of the members of the Jolly Stitchers Gub spoke in behalf of a commercial zone, stating that the Woodrow Hall had always been used for commercial purposes since it was built in 1916. They wonder why they cannot designate it as commercial now, when its history has been one of commercial use. It was mentioned that some years ago, there were several stores and a gas station adjacent to the Hall. The Jolly Stitchers have received an offer and earnest money for a home purchase, but if the offer fails they argue for a commercial designation so they can sell the building. It was mentioned that residents in the general area of Sutherland and Woodrow Hall had emphatically the SESSI foLAKTCON ENERGY SAVING SYSTEMS. In all cases we had tried to adhere to the wishes of the people. It was mentioned that traffic is excessively heavy on the road in that area and Steve Young mentioned that when the road to IPP is determined, travel on the side roads will diminish, making it possible for these areas to remain rural. A business here would have a very limited Ben Robison market. indicated a decision was forthcoming concerning the road to IPP. Chairman Smith suggested the group complete an application for a zone change and hold it pending the possible sale of Woodrow Hall as a home. Ted Reinerts request for a zone change from agriculture been had previously motioned for approval but through an oversight, had not been seconded and voted upon. Motion by Jim Cox to approve recommendation to the County Commissioners to publish this change, seconded by Lenore Gardner and carried unanimously. Ben Robison indicated that the county commissioners were very concerned over many of the component homes coming in because the contractors, and owners apparently felt they were exempt from paying a full building permit fee. It was his opinion that any type dwelling put on a permanent foundation should pay the same fees so the county would have a consistent Steve policy. Young mentioned that the building permit fee covers a service that of an inspection but that the homes coming in are often covered with sheetrock, etc.. He stated that he believed that most modular homes were not inspected by the State but that mobile homes are inspected. The had building inspector expressed the hope that an adequate inspection could be made so the fee could be collected consistently. Mobile homes do. not conform to UBC. It was motioned by Joyce Scottorn, seconded by Ben Robison that Steve Young write an amendment to the building ordinance 890 to correct this problem and carried unanimously. It was mentioned that Steve Young had previously prepared an application to amend the zoning ordinance to allow rooming, boarding housing and temporary group -- In the quarters manufacturing zone, but because the planning commission had submitted the new zoning ordinance to the County Commissioners, it was felt this request was not needed because approval and adoption was forthcoming. the County However, Commissioners expressed a, had desire to meet the with planning commission prior to the adoption, perhaps to suggest some changes. A motion was made by Joyce Scottorn, seconded by Jim Cox, that the present zoning ordinance be amended to allow Boarding4 and Rooming Housing and Temporary Group Quarters in the manufacturing zone. Motion carried unanimously. In the new proposed ordinance, the above is a permitted use in the industrial zone which includes manufacturing. It was mentioned that a joint Inerting should be set with the Delta Planning Commission, possibly, before or after our regular scheduled for meeting January 5 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss any problems or concerns. A motion was made by Joyce Scottorn, seconded by Lenore Gardner, that no more meetings be held until January 3, 1982, and carried unanimously. A notice will be published to this effect. Gayle Bunker was in secure attendance to instructions on what he must do to secure final approval on his subdivision Country Estates.
