Here is one of the original ones of Joseph and Rhoda Johnson Holbrook. Joseph Hyrum Holbrook was born September 22, 1844. in Nauvoo, Illinois, the son of Chandler and Eunice Dunning Holbrook. The Holbrook family had joined the church early in 1833, and had built eight different homes in eight different places in following the Church authorities to Utah. Each of Josephs eight brothers and sisters was born in a different town or city. They finally arrived in Salt Lake City In 1848 and were sent to Sessions, now Bountiful. In 1851 Brigham Young called Chandler to go with Anson Call and many other families to help settle Fillmore, as it was to become the capital of the Utah Territory, and as Chandler was a surveyor, Brigham Young asked him to stay and survey the town. Chandler was given a farm eight miles west of Fillmore in a section called "The Sink Joseph and his brother Orson were old enough to help run the farm. These two boys soon owned large farms of their own down at the Sink. Joseph married Rhoda Johnson, a trained nurse from Salt Lake City, and the following children were born to them: Franklin Joseph, born August 28, 1873, Grantly Warren born January 28, 1876; Conrad Dunning, born April 26, 1879, Mary Geneva, their only daughter, born March 31, 1884.
