Police Officer adds another job to his list of civic duties Clinton Carl Penney, son of Don R. and Marion F. Penney of Kanosh in the Utah Army National Guard on October 24, 1979 as a Sergeant. Clinton was born December 18, 1952 in Fillmore and graduated from Millard High School in 1971. Sgt. Penney was in Detachment 1, Battery C, 2nd Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery from June 27, 1972 until March 1, 1979 and held the job of Gunner with the rank of Sergeant. He attended basic training at Ft. Polk, Louisiana and Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma during the first half of 1973. A very busy man, he now has five jobs. He is a Fillmore City Policeman, the City Dog Catcher, a part-tim- e police dispatcher, is a member of the Sheriffs Jeep Posse, and is now a National Guardsman. Now that requires much civic dedication!! Police Report DOT shed at Cove Fort burglarized Two Ohio men were arrested last Friday evening for the burglary of the Department of Transportation shed at Cove Fort. Sheriff Ed Phillips received a call at 8 p.m. from Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hammonds, owners of the Cove Fort service station, that they were holding the two suspects as they had gotten S10 worth of gas from them and were unable to pay for it. When the Sheriff arrived a DOT worker informed him the shed had been burglarized. Entry to the shed was gained by breaking a window. Items taken from the DOT shed were found in the suspects car. Roger Pollnow, 18, and John Moorman, 18, of Convoy, Ohio were arrested and charged with Burglary. Keys, soda pop, and canned goods taken from the DOT shed were found in their vehicle. Sheriff Phillips was assisted in his investigation by UHP Trooper Kirk Harding and Fillmore City Police Chief Glen Quarnberg, a member of the Sheriff's Posse. The LDS Life Flight Helicopter arrived in the Fillmore Clinic's parking lot at 11:20 p.m. amidst police flares. placed around the parking lot by Officer Thorpe Robison, with nurse and police vehicles lighting the area with their headlights. Nurse Spader also remarked, "The LDS helicopter was used because they told me the University of Utah Medical Centers helicopter had crashed into a hotel in Rock Springs, Wyoming. The Life Flight helicopter transport system was put into operation by the LDS Hospital on July 17, 1978 and its first run was to Fillmore Hospital that same day to airlift a Holden man who had been seriously injured that morning in a tractor accident. Life Flight also made its third run to Fillmore in the early morning hours of July 19, 1978 to airlift a newborn Fillmore baby who was having difficulties. Both of those first patients have made fine recoveries. The Life Flight helicopter is an Allou-ett- e II helicopter which is capable of lifting off within three to seven minutes after receiving a call for assistancce. The craft is designed for high altitude flying at speeds up to 120 miles per hour and can carry two patients, two medical personnel, and a pilot. The medical equipment carried in the unit is the latest in emergency care and it is virtually a flying intensive care unit. Judy and her husband, Carl E.. moved to Fillmore a year and a half ago from Mesquite, Nevada. Judy was born in Holden and Carl was born in St. They are also the parents George. of a Vi year old daughter, Naomi. Carl is employed at the Castle & Cooke Mushroom Farm and is a member of the National Guard's Fillmore unit.
