Dutson Jane FILLMORE t Trx !z by STEIU DAY Reporter Just as I finished sending in the very list material (pictures and Instructions) for, having Builders of Early Millard printed, 1 learned the Fillmore scrap book is due August 1, one week from today. When oh when, will my garden get weeded? Don't think I havent had offers to help me weed it, but the people who offer have well groomed gardens which means they work constantly on their own gardens, having plenty of work of their own to do. I really will get it done when my muscles get stronger and the scrapbook is on its way to be judged. I certainly will have to work night and day to finish the scrap book, and no matter how little we receive as a reweard for our work, will be more than we would have received if we hadn't entered n. We have worked toward our goals and I feel we have accomplished a great deal.1 We have a group of dedicated workers in Fillmore, who spend many hours planning for future projects, and who really cares what happens to OUR TOWN." I hope every one loves our new park as much as I most of you were too young to get in on the but do, beginning, as I did. The City purchased the Park but had no money with which to develop it. It was the Fillmore Garden Club which got over eighty people together to clean off the debris, plow and level the Park grounds. Hundreds and hundreds of hours of volunteer labor and equipment have been donated in order to get the ground ready to put in a sprinkling system and plant it to grass. Paul McBride was Mayor when we first began the work, and I will always have fond memories of his keen interest in developing the Park, even though the City had so little money to put into the work. His whole hearted cooperation helped the volunteers to stay on the job, and slowly but surely we have improved the Park with very little cost to the taxpayer. 1 can still see that radiant smile on Mayor Tom MR. AND MRS. KEM E. HALL Wrights face when the grass came up so luxuriantly, and we turned on the sprinkling system, turning the droplets of water into diamonds glistening in the early morning sunlight.
