The Iris were dry but still alive, as Iris are planted on higher ground to keep them from rotting during the wet springs (which will not be this year, but I did not know how dry it would be when I planted them.) Now that they are watered they wil probably bloom beautifully next May, and 1 want you all to come and see them as they are extra special ones and should be worth seeing. The new catalog inspired me and filled me with new hope, now is spite of arthritis attacks I am determined to have a beautiful flower garden as well as a very productive vegetable garden, this year, even if I have to carry out my bath water in order to. keep them alive. Now to proceed with the names of the histories filed in the State House, this week we begin with names starting with T: Maranda Giles Turner; Daviu Turner Sr., David Turner Jr., (we did not print all of the names beginning with S, here are the rest:) Anthony Stephenson, Thomas Christian Stephenson, Simeon Stephenson, Caroline Stevens. On their way to California, Rose and Edgar stopped overnight in Cedar City with the John Mathews family. it amazing the influence a new flower catalogs on as converted to gardening as I am? I had decided one any to spend the afternoon working on a certain job, when a new flower catalog filled with colored pictures of the most gorgeous flowers, arrived in the mail. Although I djdnt have the time to look at those prize winning pictures, guess what I did? I had spent a most restless night trying to find a place to that lame leg in order that it would quiet down enought to fiut me get some sleep. Arthritis has set in o determinedly that it is almost impossible to ever be free of pain. The leg was in the cast three months and just as soon as the cast was removed the skin began to peel off, in fact after piy bafh, the bottom of the tub was covered with skin flakes. The next morning the leg was swollen so much that the thin layer of skin cracked in several places and I have had to keep it wrapped to protect the skin. All during the time the leg was in tne cast, I was sure that if I could just get rid of the heavy cast, I would be able to accomplish wonders. Little did I dream that I would ever wish for it back again, but the leg had grown accumstomed to the support it gave to it, and resented having to walk on its own strength, (many of us are like my leg ana retuse to do tne jot) we are supposed to do, until some friend or member of the family acts as a cast to support us in the job which by rights we should be doing by our own power.) During the day, while I am in full possession of my will ower, 1 can get several jobs done, and seem to be able to ear the pain, however at night it is much more difficult to control your emotions, 1 try to relax, breath deeply anti generally get to sleep but dont seem able to stay to sleep very long at one time. Spring is coming, in fact as far as the weather is concerned, opring is here. There are dozens of jobs which I could be doing if my leg would just hurry and get well. After looking carefully at each page of enticing flowers in that catalog, I was so enthused that I grabbed my crutches and stumbled over the plowed ground into the garden. It is fairly easy to walk with crutches on pavement, however it is much more difficult to try to get any where on plowed or uneven ground. I swayed back and forth, kept myself from falling by going at snails pace, but finally arrived at the part of the garden in which I had planted some of the highly Isnt v On (lAPPy grape $1.49 r ; i i |
