Compton, Brigham Young University, has been installed as president of the tah Academyof Sciences, Arts and Letters at & annual business meeting of the group held at Weber State College in Ogden. Dr. Edward Hart, BYU, was installed chairman of the letters section. Over 150 papers were delivered in the various section meetings. A highlight was the excellent paper read by Fred L. Markham of Provo, architect and member of the board of trustees of the Utah Heritage Foundation. He read a paper entitled, “Utal's Past in the Future,” which presented the story of Utah’s pioneer architecture. The president's address, read by outgoing president, Walter R. Buss, dealt with the geological structure of the state of Utah and was entitled, “The Face of Utah — A Story in Stone.” Other officers installed at the meeting were Dr. Datus M.
