Despite that finish, judge Bill Recht called the fight a draw after scoring it 442 on rounds and 66 on points. But the other two officials favored Fullmer on rounds: referee Mark Conn, 64, and judge Artie Aidala, 6 - 3 - 1. The United Press agreed, 6-3-1. A poll of 16 sports writers favored Fullmer, 11-4-1.
