I was too until two weeks ago when I met artist, SPECIAL TO THE TRIBUNE The three young entrepreneurs from photographer and devoted ad- Pa Milan soaked uptropical rays andlush ex- venturer Keren Su at a gathering of the Murray Rotary Club. The 46-year-old Chinese national spun tales of riding a one-speed bike 2,600 miles across China; rafting the length of the Tarim Riveron a teriors from a motorboat skirting the shoreline of West End, a Caribbean backwater ontheisland of Roatan, off Honduras’ northern coast. Evenbefore the ride was over, the postcard-perfect images of limpid waters, powdery sand beaches and untroubled skies had cast their spell and the trio was at work designing the seaside homemade boat; and motorbiking 15,000 miles to meet and photographall 56 of China’s ethnic minorities. Su told of spending 10 years eatery they planned to open there within the year. Europeans aren't the onlyones sniffing out the business opportunitiesinthis once- in a labor reform camp during the Cultural Revolution; of graduating from college at 30; of his father’s arrest and seven-year jail term for being a teacher; and ofhis mother,also a teacher, forced to do domestic labor.
