Commercial Secunty Banks beginnings reach back to 1875 when J W. Guthne, a storekeeper and butcher, began a banking business in Comne, Utah. The banking business was moved to Ogden in 1877 where the corporate offices were located until the move to Salt Lake City. Carpeting throughout the tower offices and the Main Street level branch is woven wool Axmmster imported from England in sage green with a pattern of cinnamon color as a complement to the traditional cherry wood decor Wall coverings in the executive area are in embossed paper wallcovering from France in off white tones. Another touch of special distinction are the two circular stairways in the tower and in the branch. One connects the 19th and 20 floors. The other onnects the Main Street level and the lower vault level, safe deposit area and bank training facilities. Above each stairway is suspended an elegant custom Nowell brass chandelier. Each is an authentic e gas light fixture, with 15 flames reproduction of an lights in each that give the appearance of a gas flame and which can be dimmed. The tower is constructed of steel framing which has been specially reinforced to withstand earthquake stress. construcFurther augmenting the earthquake-resistation, the entire tower structure is built on a 44 foot thick concrete raft slab. In the event of an earthquake, the raft slab would allow the building to float on the soil, much like a cork on rough water. Windows are insulated reflective bronze glass with solar reflectance for reduced heat build-uMatching glass spandrel panels are set between floors to proide the contmporary look of continuous vertical reflective glass. Set withP reinforced fiberglass cement curlainwall or skin," the building has an overall look of glass against a striking white exterior. The tower is cooled by four variable volume fan systems and chilled water from two centrifugal chillers providing 70u tons of cooling from a penthouse on top of the tower. Heating is supplied in two stages. An energy conserving recovery system recovers heat from the interior and supplies it to the outside skin of the building. Heat recovered from the building lights goes upward into the ceiling space above. This ceiling space takes the place of the usual ductwork. The recovery system then blows approximately 80 degree air back out to the perimeter skin of the building. Gerritt Timmerman and Keith Stepan are architects of the tower Jeff McBeth is designer. The Crossroads branch is the 26th office of Commercial Secunty. Highlights of the bank office include marble floors and accents; cherrywood paneled walls, counter and furnishings, etched glass doors and windows; and brass chandeliers and fixtures. The branch is managed by Stan Durrant, with Steve Empey as assistant manager. 15-lig- old-tim- nt p. Sterling Silver Flatware -- Reductions on sterling flatware by seven famous makers Gomara Towle.
