decimated one and the community ot of city lost one ot of its most noble women for many months the life of this good woman had been hanging in the balance ba ance and while she was spared bodily pain it seemed that the machinery just gave out and the cord that bound her to tills this earth was so fine that the least little thing might snap it and end it all but with a remarkable courage and energy the aged lady lived on and ever cheered those about her with her abundance of 0 confidence and faith until their hopes were on the that her life might yet be spared many years she suffered the first attack ot of illness in the latter part of 0 june last when the action of 0 her heart became weakened there wis wa s no pain but the years of strenuous life had been lived now put in a claim 1 4 ftp wM wt cIvin ia torn intimated eted a readiness to cancel tle obligation with the result that sister boothe as she was known everywhere was unable to readily rally from the attack and no little anxiety was fejt by her family all the members assembled at tier her bedside expecting the end to come but slowly her energy returned and she was finally able during the month of september to take a ride out pierce boothe was born borri ln in lancaster county pennsylvania march 26 she joined the church at an early age and participated in the hardships and vicissitudes through which aich it had to pass and tyas was finally expelled with the rest from the confines of civilization and thrust out to make a home borne upon the domain of the savage and live or die as fate might deal with mith her she was one ot of the pioneers ol of 47 walking a good deal dea of the way across the plains and located with her fathers family at mill creek where her father john neff established a lour flour mill the first ot of Us its kind in the state among the treasures which the daughter cherished was a piece ol of the od original stone with which her rather father ground flour in his bis mill she became tile the wife ot of ell harvey peirce in and with her husband removed to brigham city in fix the year I 1 sol sl taking up their abode in the tort fort they were one of the first tan aai thes to come to brigham and sister soothe boothe has been identified with the growth and up building ot of this city participating in nil all the varied experiences which have been passed thru and she lived to see it develop a children in later years r she 1 married again to 11 boothe to whom site she bore six children and the remarkable fact is that all the children have outlived their mother in all her life she never was sick in bed from disease more than two days and possessed a remarkably strong physique and her ambition knew no DO curbing for she was unhappy unless doing something v As a church worker sister booths boothe was one of 0 the oldest in point of service jn this community as well as in years she has been identified with the relief society from its organization was the first president over the organization in the first ward was a counselor to stake president harriet snow and when olivia stake president died some ome years ago sister boothe was male president which position she held at the time of her death in her church work as in ill all other labors she assumed she was promptness personified thorough energetic indefatigable she n ver disappointed in one single instance when called to a duty tier her heart was large enough to exercise benevolence for all mankind and she was continually doing good to others of a cheery dapos disposition she always met her friends with a smile and who is there will ever forget the hearty laugh that would ring out with a genuine tone when she indulged in mirth now she has gone but she will live forever in the memory of those who knew and loved her for the nobility of character which she possessed impressive funeral services were held saturday afternoon in the taber nacle that session ol of the quarterly conference being given over to that
