plaintiff as tie he lawi lawfully tilly might for the cause aforesaid and in so BO doing did necessarily and unavoidably a little pull and hawl haw about before a large concourse of people and thereby then and there iu in self belt defense defence did indignantly treat the arid plaintiff by staking blown kicking striking throwing him upon the ground ground and did then and there for the cause aforesaid a little tend rend tear ear and damage theo the clothes lothes of the said plaintiff and there being then a d there upon gas ne ground where the said oaid daut wag so compelled in seb bell defense as aforesaid to throw down the body of the defendant as large quantity of if tar pitch and leathers feathers by means whereof the si sa d became a little lidle covered anti anil be smeared with tar pitch and feathers as stated in the said declaration mentioned doing noun essary damage to plaintiff on the occasion and so the said defendant says that if any hurt or r damage then ben and there happened to the saiu said plaintiff or his wearing apparel the same was occasioned by the assault so made by the said plaintiff upon the said defendant in the necessary defense of him the said deafen abot against the said plaintiff which are the he said supposed trespasses in the in part of this pies pica mentioned and whereof the said bald plaintiff has ban complained against him the said
