By Keith Duncan If you see Greg Boarden someday totally consumed with a latest rock hit in Clearfield Highs Spirit Hall, dont give it a second thought. In fact he wouldnt mind if you joined in. Fellow basketball player, don't be alarmed if Greg always hums in practice. Hes normal just like you, and in fact you might want to listen to that hum, it might add something to your quickness. And a hint to those finishing Clearfield Highs team room, Greg cant wait too 'much longer for the stereo to be transplanted to the new gym. Could you hurry! Music and Greg Boarden are like brothers, they have been for a long time and will be as long as Boarden has a set of earphones. 1 dont know what Td do without music, said the exaciting and explosive Clearfield athlete, The first thing I do in the morning is to turn on the stereo and usually its the last thing I do. ' The Clearfield senior, who is presently a starting guard on the Falcons varsity basketball squad, says music helps him concentrate in sports and several times has relieved tension. Truthfully Boarden felt track helped him prepare for football more, the sport he desires to continue to play, perhaps at a junior college. Later they moved to New Mexico, then California and have finally settled in Utah for the past six years, making their home in Sunset. She had endless words of praise for coaches, academic policies and the like. Of course Greg couldnt be happier either. Other swimmers who should figure high in Gearfields swim hopes will be Carrie Bishop, Ronna Sorenson, Chris Boren, and Tammy Elmer. Three men that received high mention from Coach Fred Lange will be Scott Bly, Russ Stanford and Mark Chicado. Both Walter and Rhonda have swam for three years at Clear-- field, becoming very close to the head coach. Combined, these two swimmers have put in 9 years of swimming under Lange. Jurek and Symonds are two real good reasons why Gearfield enjoyed possibly their best season ever in swimming last year. The Falcons took third in region and tenth in state and sent the most people to state than theyd ever done. Both Walter and Rhonda claim no other reason for their love of swimming other than its great fun and it gives them something to achieve in. the Air Force. His first swimming competition was in Alaska. , Rhonda, on the other hand, first began swimming in the Phillipines. Betty, her mother was an instructor at the time. Six years a go her family moved to Kaysville, Utah but since Davis High does not field a swim team, she was given permission to attend Gearfield.
