Show QJfeJi first-clas- teams. and exciting traditionalized basketball teams over the past few decades and certainly over the past decade hasnt been without beautiful arenas to accomodate all the excitement. The following might enhance some fans about the spacious palaces they hoot and hollar in all winter. The Spectrum An'average of almost 8,000 fans a game have watched the Aggies in action in nine years since the dedication of the Spectrum, December 1, 1970 (USU defeated Ohio State, Some 1,007,175 fans have filed through the turnstiles in USUs 127 home games during that time. 95-89- ). The Spectrum one of the nation's mast complete college arenas comfortably seats 10,270 (5,000 student capacity and 3,800 season ticket availabilities). All are chair back seats done in a pleasant color scheme of light orange, dark orange, light gold and yellow. There are 36 rows of seats completely encircling the floor. Virtually every need common to the staging of a major college game or tournament is provided for including complete dressing room and meeting room racilities for four teams. Aggie teams use the north locker rooms and the visitors the south facilities. The teams enter the playing floor via nearby ramps. The playing floor is permanent and is constructed of maple on a cushion, over concrete. The sound system is the most modern available and uses the cluster sound program. Within the dome are athletic offices, ticket offices and concession stands. Under the chair seats are two large dressing rooms (for Utahs varsity and JV teams) and facilities for officials and visiting teams. While Utah athletic staff members and athletes reap benefit from the great facilities, - the main beneficiaries are the schools great fans. Now more people can see the Utes in action . . . and there isnt a bad seat in the house! "Dee Events Center A veritable Purple Palace, Weber States Dee Events Center combines seating comfort and aesthetic beauty giving Wildcat teams a great arena to com- plement great teams. Dedicated in 1977, the Dee Center can accommodate nearly 12,000 spectators a game in individual seats, nearly half of them cushioned. Writing and broadcasting facilities are located courtside, behind sunken team benches. Scouting facilities are located higher, with desks for taking notes. Besides being a showcase for basketball, the Dee Center is a facility of many uses. Concerts ranging from Fleetwood Mac to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir have been staged here, as well as commencements convocations, and circuses. It is also the home of the Wildcat wrestling team. With several spacious dressing rooms, training complete facilities and equipment rooms, the Center can and has played host to tournament action.
