Billy Smiths two goals gave the Weber soccer club a 1 lead after the first 45 minute half. But the Clearfield team showed an immense amount of agressiveness in the second half to take home their first soccer victory of the new year. Rain poured down several times as 4-- 2-- chilly weather accompanied the emffeir coinnipetfotfiioirii ' by Keith Duncan Round No. II gets underway this week in Region One womens gymnastics. Clearfield will be performing at Bountiful, Sky View and Weber will be at Roy and finally Bonneville and Viewmont will be at Layton to perform. In last weeks action, Clearfield enjoyed a superb performance from several of its top girls to take a big win over visiting Layton and Sky View. Bountiful edged the Royals of Roy contest all afternoon. This Friday, weather permitting, the soccer team will host Bonneville at Highland Junior Highs field. In a preseason game, Bonneville and Weber played a 3 tie. Coach Bill Smith voiced that his team learned a lot from the contest 3-- with Clearfield. Hie soccer club is in its first year of competition as is Bonneville and several of the other teams comprising Region One. 17 points, strong despite Hartline, fifth was Arlene Tovar, and sixth was Robin Clements. On the Intermediate level, Sherri Stevens captured first place. Dawn Beers took second, Jan Dahle took third, Linda Owens was fifth, and Lori Johnson was fifth. In optional vault, Stevens took first again, Johnson was second, Bev Wood placed third, Linda Owens was fourth and Beers was fifth. In Gass II beam, Lori Johnson was first, Lisa Christensen was second, Sherri Stevens placed third, Jan Dahle was fourth and Linda Owens was fifth. In optional beam, Johnson per- formances from Karen Allen in Class III and other top showings from Suzane Skidmore, Julianne Brady, Diane Kingsley, and Annette Siletti, all in Class II. Weber hosted Viewmont and Davis. Her team is called the Saltoes. Her amazing routines were a highlight of the high school meet last week.
