Weber County Fire Chief, Kenneth Hancock, and North View Fire Chief, Terrel Call, presented the firemens plans for cooperation to the council, in the regular Teusday evening meeting. In an interview, Chief Call explained that the agreement for mutual aid is basically the same as that which has been in effect for the past 5 years. The main difference is, it spells out how far we will go, explained Chief Call. He said that a lot of planning has been done by all of the fire chiefs in Weber County, except for Ogden who is not included in the agreement. The whole concept, said Chief Call, Is to get the nearest fire truck there on the scene with a back-u-p on the way." He explained that in a fire, time is an extremely crucial element. He said that in the past, there have been problems, because of political boundaries, in getting a unit to a fire fast enough. He said that the firemen want to recognize a fire as the critical emergency that it is, rather than make it a political football. We want to worry about which department had jurisdiction after we get the fire under control. The North View fire department serves both North Ogden and Pleasant View. Except for Chief Call, it is manned by volunteers. They are called volunteers because they have other full time employment, but they Citys, are required to undergo intensive and continuous training, both in fire fighting methods and first aid. They could also be called on to help with a fire at D.D.O., as the government base has agreed to help with bad fires in the surrounding communities. Chief Call said that it is virtually impossible, without the cooperation between agencies, to maintain adequate manpower, facilities and equipment, due to the costs. He said the county gave 26 assists to the North View department last year, while they responded 10 times to county fires. Board approves medical directors . Two new Medical Directors were approved for the Weber County Hospital Tuesday. During a joint meeting between the hospital advisory board and the medical and hospital staff, Drs. Lowell and Sheridan Daines were approved as directors to replace Dr. Harold L. Hansen, who resigned from the post effective March 1. Both will serve concurrently in the post under a contract for one year. A new dictation system for the medical records department was also approved during the meeting, with plans to buy the equipment for $3,800 with money expected to be coming to the facility in June from back payments for services, according to Administrator David Van Moorlehem. Lillian Sienkiewicz, president of the hospitals Volunteer Auxiliary, was also introduced to the group, who was recently installed in the post. In picking a director, Van Moorlehem said that he had consulted the medical staffs of both St. Benedicts and McKay-De- e Hospitals, along with the directors at each facility. Each doctor came highly recommended from these people, he said, and he recommended their approval to serve concurrently as the hospital's Medical Directors. County Commissioner Doug Hunt then made a motion to approve the approintment of the doctors, stating that he had heard nothing but favorable comments about the two. Advosory Board Member Dr. McEntire Jay commented that cooperation is important in the role of a medical director, in working with the doctor community," and that the appointment of Drs.
