Show 5B Lakeside Review South, Wednesday, Apr. 13, 1983 Ulrich Named Vocational's New Director Boise Cascade 6th 1 Sale Ends April By KENT SOMERS - Review Staff FARMINGTON The Davis County School District announced the hiring of a new director of vocational education, and also created a new position by naming an assistant. Walter E, Ulrich, who was an administrator in the states vo- ATTENTHON HOME cational education division from to 1982, will replace Clinton Zollinger, who will retire at the end of June. Superintendent Lawrence E. Welling said Ulrich has a vast background in finance and programs to bring to the district, and should help maintain the districts program, which Welling called one of the best vocational education programs in the state. Welling also asked the board to approve the appointment of Dean Christensen as Ulrichs assistant. We found two outstanding candidates, Welling told the board. Its difficult to draw a line and say you want one and not the other. 1968 HEMODELEm: To celebrate the completed remodeling o our Boie store, we're offering tremendous values for your remodeling needs! , BUIUDINGlM'CTiERIAIIS FRAMING LUMBER ECONOMY STUDS Add a room . . Quality Appearance The superintendent also said he felt obligated to explain the hiring of two men, instead of just one. He said vocational education programs are growing and the administration felt hiring the two men would help meet that demand. Welling said there has been attrition in the vocational education department and positions have not been filled. Funding for vocational education programs does not come from the weighted pupil unit the districts main source of said Welling, so the funding department is not competing for those dollars. Ulrich will assume his duties prior to Zollingers leaving, said Welling, which should make the change go smoothly. Ulrich, 56, is a graduate of Morgan High School and received a certificate of completion and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in industrial arts education. He received his masters degree from USU in the same field. Ulrich has also done postgraduate work at the University of Utah and the University of Colorado.
