Show ayt WHITON by the death of sister ellen emmett moran whiton which event aral transpired is on april 1887 the city ef wellsville cache county lost a faithful and devoted latter day saint whose whole life during her membership in the church was a living exponent of the doctrines and principles which she bad embraced sister whiton was born may 1816 at olden mill lancashire england and was the daughter of richard bichard emmet and ann taylor was baptized in the year 1852 and arrived in ia utah in company with her husband busbaum bus baud henry october 1853 1831 for a short time the they lived in salt take lake valley and atterway afterwards s reproved oved to mar cedar fort cedar valley during the winer Q ag 1855 and 1856 brother moran was en caged raced in cattle herding with george and washington Vas hington carson near utah lake and was killed with them by indians feb 1856 sometime after this sad event she g brother isaac whiting land and with him moved to wellsville in the spring of where she lived until the time ot or her death jn the ath of july july 1868 she was appointed treasurer of the relief society of wellsville and she became president of the society which office she held at pe the time of her demise during her presidency she had the confidence of the society and the esteem of the saints of that ward sister bister whiton had bad been a great sufferer for many years hut but she hung bung on to the thread of life with amazing tenacity de desir sir ous of living to still accomplish more good brutshe at last succumbed to the call of of her master and died as she had lived witha with a full assurance of the the truth of the gospel and a fervid hope of a glo glorious pious resurrection I 1 COM |
