Show ELDEK if A FELT RIO hij FUNERAL eitl wm BE conducted i i MORROW TO ft the f funeral of elder E H pelt felt who on the inot c closed bed with what had been until stricken with C ill health super induced by advancing years a 2 useful career will be chip conducted in the seventeenth ward meeting house tomorrow to morrow Sund ayat 10 a in the dece deceased asea was born in salem massachusetts february eth 1816 baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day in 1842 and joined tha body of the church at nauvoo in 1845 when the saints were expelled from there it was his des deal r re e adduis and his preparations were made to that end to press on with the van but was stricken with fever and ague on the frozen banks of the missouri and unable to proceed he was appointed d to preside at st louis in 1847 and through those troublous times with the powers of dark dess poured out with fury upon the people and during those daik days of the cholera scourge he nobly filled his bis calling in directing aiding and comforting the saints to to the satisfaction and with the commendation of the church authorities as shown by many letters from them in his possession he was finally released and on the ath day of october 1850 lie be with his family arrived in salt lake lake valley in 1851 he was wast appointed a presiding traveling bishop in 1854 he went to new york with president taylor Tsy lorand and assisted in establishing the publication known as the Mor mormon moir and I 1 4 in u receive ing and forwarding the emigran emigration on he returned home in 1856 in 1865 he went to great grat Brita britain ift on a mission where he labored in the Hillen millennial nial star office and later as pas tor of the londei london district returning in 1867 in 1868 he was again called on a mission to the E eastern astern states whid which li he filled he was the first alderman of salt lake city and served lot for many in bake iho he city ty council and for some time in the legislature he figured prominently on numerous occasions on vic co committees appointed to receive alvic visitors to this city in 1873 he passed through a very severe bevere sickness which left his bis body in in a debilitated condition and his has be been en more or less confined to the house ever since on january ab 1887 he was stricken with paralysis in the leg and though ae seemed to improve and his bis lati family aily thought it was but a local complaint from lack of circulation and exercise yet on the aller after sitting n up some tes time aad and apparently in the best t of bp spirits in fact better than for months past he e retired to rest a and nd passed quietly away without realizing as tar be ascertained any more than dd dad his fa family mi ly that als demise was ho so near |
