| Show THE D B R 0 IT WILL BE MADE A BROAD GAUGE TRACK the directors of the D R G railway returned from their tour of inspection spec clion tion over the rc road oad last night dud and the gentlemen who came from the east will return to their homes tonight to night all the important business having been transacted at the sessions held during the tour to or over the road the adoption of it A STANDARD to principal points in the state is probably the most important move on the part of the diree directors tors but they have also tra transacted other affairs which insures aa aggressive policy which will put the road on a very sub substantial oasis basis at the meeting held at the springs yesterday morning the directors decided to 9 landard gauge their line from pueblo ta leadville and red bed cliff by bv laying a tb rd rail and from red bed cliff to aspen to build a broad gauge road giving them a standard gauge line fine from denver deliver and pueblo to aspen this is a splendid stroke stoke of policy and places the rio grant gran le ie in a position to meet all competitor com petito rs ond and obtain their full share of the bt bi cluess sin essof of the state it is also r intention to continue the standard ga ca uge line to grand junction and the aub h border where they will unite with the rio kio grande western which will jn in all probability lay a BAL NA TO OGDEN i thereby giving the rio grande system a broad gauge connection on OB all the important on their line this action on OB the part of the directors ro gives evidence if f their appreciation ion of the railroad situation in the state and that they p propose that the df D e atter jb blo ewt ahall retain its place at the head bead of the railroad procession in colorado extensive orders have been riven given for the equipment to be run on the broad gauge alae the latest style of passenger cc coaches aches pullman sleepers and buffet cars have been adopted adapted ed new and powerful freight and passenger locomotives locomotive sare are under contract and orders have been given for heavy steele rails and iron tron bridges for the entire distance from denver to aspen den ver news mar 8 |
