If they can eventually stop the disease it would be helpful for those with the disease now and for future generations, said Smith. Smith explains proudly she is named after Genghis Khan. Temujin is his real name. My parents watched a movie about him and liked it, she said. The Labor Day telethon for Smith has often meant spending the day in Salt Lake City answering phones or working behind the scenes of the Utah portion of the fundraiser. MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) has been very helpful in buying equipment and in paying for repairs to my wheelchair, sbe indicated. ld Carbon High rodeo club helps paint justice court ; Smith graduated from Carbon High, College of Eastern Utah and is now working on a book. Its a series of shorts, not really poetry. When Im finished it will read like a novel, she explained. The book centers on the Cafe Mecca in Price. Originally it was going to be a short book introducing the six people sitting in the six booths ofthe cafe, but it has grown to include the people they meet too. Its like a journey to Mecca, she said. Smith attended school with two members of the Hillas family and grew to love the Mecca through her association with the family. Smith likes to travel and she explains she is lucky to have a group of good friends who invite to visit for an extended period.
