A Team Penning Jackpot has been set for Saturday, June I at the Blackhawk Arena in Salina. The event will start at 9:00 a.m. and will probably run most of the day, according to Paul Nienieyer of Richfield. Niemeyer is vice president of the host club, the Blackhawk Penners. n Team penning involves a team on horseback. It is a timed event, and the riders must sort designated cattle from a herd and pen them in a small holding pen. Times are extremely competitive sometimes taking less than 30 seconds to pen three head of cattle making it a fast paced and exciting spectator sport, said Niemeyer. Admission at the June 1 penning is free to spectators. Teams interested in entering the competition may do so before May 29 4 6 Paul Niemeyer at (home) or calling by (work), or Kim 2 Robinson at (work) or 529-78- 7 (home). Entry fees depend upon level of expertise. Monetary prizes will be awarded to winning teams. This penning is one of a series that began in January. Niemeyer said the pennings have drawn teams from as far north as Ogden and as far south as Kanab. The series will culminate in a finals competition set for July 13 at the Blackhawk. three-perso- Home and School: . are paid by tax dollars. Few drivers view speeding as an immediate risk to their personal safety. However, speeding reduces reaction time and the ability to steer safely around curves on highways or objects in the roadway. It extends the distance necessary to stop a vehicle, increases the distance a vehicle travels while the driver reacts, and reduces the effectiveness of the vehicle safety features.
